“That makes two of us who’d prefer something else to being here,” Kain agrees, gesturing around the hall. “These events are all the same, no matter the world you’re in. I’ve been to more than enough balls back home… it never changes. Though I did want to make an appearance here, for the sake of us rifters.” It’s about showing the nobles they’re not some kind of demons and all.

Kain nods, looking thoughtfully at the mask in hand. “I got to fight one even, and it was even more formidable than a story could ever be.” Though deep down, he wishes he could spend more time actually getting out there and seeing them firsthand, not only to fight but to study, maybe one day tame. But he knows there are priorities here.
