Merrill nods, pleased that James both understands and doesn't seem argumentative about it. 'See her just as she was' -- yes, exactly. They don't believe in the Maker, so why would they see her as his Bride?

"Oh- no, not at all! He was a very important historical figure, yes, but not a prophet. It's believed that Fen'Harel sealed them away, so there's not really any way for them to communicate with us. As far as we know. So it's not like he could have been the... the Husband of Mythal, or something. And- well, our people say that he tried to save Andraste's life, when she died. I don't know why we would care, honestly, if it hadn't been written down at some point before the Exalted March."

She shakes her head. "I don't know -- our history is so fragmented that what we say doesn't necessarily mean that's how things were. Still, Shartan was important enough for us to remember by name, and important enough for the Chantry to try and erase."
