"Magic has its own kind of science," Hermione replied, vaguely surprised by suddenly being in the middle of a deep conversation. "It's a type of energy, after all. And energy cannot be created nor destroyed. Which is why I'm trying to find the pattern behind these rifts, since they have to be coming from something, somewhere. Using magic as an explanation doesn't mean I'm completely disregarding science's involvement; it just means that I'm assuming magic is the seemingly invisible leap between point A and point B."

Smiling a little, she added, "I may be a witch, and you may be from the future, but that doesn't mean I'm full of fanciful theories that don't hold water. I can be just as logical as the next person, even if he happens to be the captain of a spaceship who's used to traversing the galaxy."
