Regardless of his own style, Sam would honestly suggest that Kirk learn to use the weapons, even if he didn't plan on using them. He's doing it himself simply because it was better to know and not need it, rather than finding himself in a situation where he was in trouble simply because he didn't know.

Sam smiles at the term. Medieval - that certainly sounded better than primitive, but he suspects that it still refers to something old. "I guess your 'science' is a bit more complicated than that? We similarly experiment, discover and seek knowledge with magic and everything else going on in our world. Or perhaps you have science because you don't have magic?" This is the first time he's meeting someone who didn't know or have magic in their world, or at least living wasn't comparable.

"Yes, it does make you sound rather strange. For you most of what we have here is similar to how people in your past lived? For me? I'm still having some trouble fathoming some of the things you're saying. Like you travel to other worlds just as easily as we sail across an ocean to another land. That's... a lot to take in."

Noting that Kirk is rubbing his hand, Sam points slightly at it. "Has it been bothering you?"
