Well, it was a bit different when something was attacking you. Even then, though, he didn't like the thought of taking someone's life. If he really had do, he could. He knew he could, but it was the last and final resort. Life was to precious for it to be anything but.

"Ah, movies are like a long series of moving pictures," he explained. "They tell stories visually, like a play." He knew that probably didn't make much sense but it was the best he could come up with to explain the concept. It wasn't like it mattered though - they lacked the technology here, which was a pity. He could think of several movies he would have liked to show Sam.

There's the briefest hesitation, not because he did not trust Sam, but that he had been keeping it hidden it since he came to Skyhold. Slowly he unwrapped his hand and placed it in Sam's, his palms perhaps surprisingly calloused though his nails are well cared for and trimmed.

"If you wanted to hold my hand you could have just said," he teased him, not wanting to show how the thing embedded in his palm unnerved him.
