He couldn't deny that was a good use of time travel. It was. But what he had seen, what had happened - it forever soured him to the idea of it. He couldn't justify the saving of one life when there was a possibility so many more could lose theirs. As Spock had once said - the needs of the many before the needs of the one.

"In my experience, it cost ten billion people their lives and destroyed a planet," he said as a contrast. And it wasn't an exaggeration. It was the truth. He had seen it happened. He had failed to save them. Time travel could do good, he wouldn't deny that based on what she had said. But the price - the price could be so, so much more and he could not justify that. Ever.

But that argument could go on forever, and it seemed they had all they had to say to each other on that. His own opinion was not about to be swayed, it never would be. But he did respect Hermoine for saving someone, for trying. Life was precious, after all, in all its forms.

"You seem the type to keep working until you are competent enough," he chuckled. "And I'm sure you will be. You don't seem the type to give up easy. Frankly we all have quite the learning curve here - or I would say anyone from a more advanced world will. If my boots last me until I get back to my ship, though, I think I'll be in good shape."
