Legolas didn't wake up when he was moved, he didn't wake up when he was picked up either, or tucked into bed. He slept soundly and deeply, even peacefully with dreams not bothering him terribly. Though he did dream; of forests and of seas, of being one of the creatures living among the trees or in the depths of the water. In those dreams he was free and cheerful, chasing game or his mates, enjoying life for what it was rather than worrying about anything at all.

In his sleep, his body shifted closer to the familiar warmth, to the feä that was dear to his heart more than any other. It felt safest to be this close, and so his arm draped over Thranduil's lap while Legolas buried his face in the side of his hip and waist.

He did not snore, but with his lips parted the way they were, he did drool a little. The moisture seeping into Thranduil's robes. Like this he slept for a couple of hours before another dream - or rather a sudden and violent end of it - startled him awake.

Blearily alert, Legolas looked about him in confusion. This was not where he remembered letting himself fall asleep, but turning towards his makeshift body pillow subdued any concerns. Thranduil was still with him and--

That sight startled Legolas awake even further. Eyes closed and, as far as his sluggish mind could see, with his chest unmoving, Thranduil looked more dead to him than anything else. Lightning fast, like a snake attacking, Legolas darted up to press his ear to Thranduil's chest and there and then relief hit with the same force panic had. Like this too, he could feel that Thranduil's chest did lift with his inhales, along with hearing the steady and strong beat of his heart.
