Kirkwall is a fascinating place, but when opportunity arises for a trip out of the city to do some exploring, Ellana takes it and asks around for a couple of volunteers to join her. While she knows James and has gone on a mission or two with him before, Natasha is someone new to her. But she's a rogue and that neatly fits into their trifecta of combat skills here: mage, warrior, rogue.
The plan is simple: travel up into the mountains and scout it out for the Inquisition. Make notes on usable paths and make sure there aren't any bandits, Corypheus's allies, or anybody else that might hinder the Inquisition from using these trails. Right now, the three are off the beaten path, looking for alternate routes close by. Not far from the established, well-trod trail is the opening to a cave. Ellana produces a light that hovers above her hand and searches the entranceway for traps. Seeing it's clear, she nods to the others.

Just ... kept an eye on her.
Then, of course, they came to a cave that was not magically trapped. Didn't mean there wasn't something else there.
"After you, madam." He said respectfully. "If you just let me know if the entrance is trapped - I'll be happy to take point after that."
He was the one with the armor and the shield, after all.
