Few months ago, maybe. We don't have the numbers to keep 'em off of us for much longer. Those elves won't care to step in. Probably their doing, anyhow.

Glad to see Inquisition in the area. Don't know what else we can do at this point.

It isn't their doing. The demons plague all of Thedas - they are a threat to the Elves as much as they are a threat to you.

Why would you believe otherwise? Have they summoned demons before?

[The man scowls, running a hand through his short hair.] They haven't before, but they're damned near demons themselves.

They caught me once when I was lost in the woods. Said they'd let me get a run start once. Then they put me in these britches with nails in 'em. Told me to run.

You can imagine the results. Lucky I got away as I did, but I'm not gonna be takin' a jog anytime soon.

Glad you see it that way. It's a game to the elves here. I don't remember what they call it-- something teeth.

But yes. They tortured me, and I ain't the first. Wasn't the last. Just one of the ones that got home.

I see no other way to interpret it. Regardless of supposed infraction, that can only be described as torture.

One of them? Most don't survive?

What do you think? They put us in those britches and make us run while they hunt us. People in that kind of situation aren't usually gonna make it.

That they might be inclined to leave wounded, rather than dead. But obviously I had allowed myself to hope for too much.

How long has this been happening? What right do they have to do such a thing?
