Too true. [He chuckles, approving.] We do tend to be preoccupied.

About ... hm, five years after my clan and I parted ways? That was about the time I met him. Malsaam. Terrific at Wicked Grace, actually. Most of the people he played with didn't think much of a large Vashoth who pretended to not know how to hold the cards in his hands.

Hell of a temper, though. Still, we had a good run, for a time.

What made you part ways, if you don't mind me asking?

I suppose if I'm talking this much, might as well say.

Malsaam and I-- we traveled across Thedas. Stealing, conning, pirating; we were good at it, too. But he wanted to rob a Tevinter magister.

I was the one who would always plan a way to escape just in case the job would go badly. Malsaam didn't have the foresight, and I was never keen at the idea of being caught, being an elf and an apostate. This time, I didn't see a way out, and I told him.

Stubborn I said, right? Mal... he said as long as I watched his back, we'd be fine.

But it went badly. I told him we had to go. He didn't listen. So I ran away, and he was put into slavery.

[samahl]

Oh...

[After a moment, Cyril gets closer and just wraps his arm around Fate's arm, holding onto him to offer comfort without overly soft words.]

That about summarizes it.

[There is more. There is always more.

For now, he appreciates the physical comfort. Fate closes his eyes and places a hand to Cyril's arm.]

[samahl]

[Cyril leans a bit against him and lets the moment just be there for a bit, let there be comfort and companionship. Eventually, he changes the subject.]

You know, there are a lot of good bearded men in the Inquisition. We should have a contest to see how can make out with more of them.

[He laughs quietly.]

I do like a little competition.

Cyril, thank you.

[samahl]

You're welcome, but what am I being thanked for? Giving you an excuse to be itched by a lot of beards?

[wickedchase]

Heh, I could make that excuse myself.

But I appreciate you listening. I like to think I'm a good judge of character, and you--

Well. You're trustworthy, and sharing is not an easy thing for me.

[samahl]

I understand that. It's a painful story to tell.

I am here, though, if you ever need to tell more of it.

Ah, but I've sung my woes plenty just now. It's not a bore to you?

[samahl]

I doubt that you could bore me, even if you tried. I'd just look at those eyes and be entertained. [Cheesy, yes, but Cyril has always been open about how attracted he is to Twisted Fate.]

They are rather majestic, aren't they?

[Twisted Fate approves, and he smiles sharply before he leans in and presses a kiss to Cyril's temple.]

Another time, though. There'd be too much say, and I've said enough. Let's perhaps entertain ourselves?

What sort of entertainment are you thinking?

The kind we should probably take to a tent.

[samahl]

[Cyril grins and then stands. He holds out his hand to take Twisted Fate into a tent.]

[All too glad for the passionate distraction, Twisted Fate accepts Cyril's hand. This is something he could stand to immerse himself in. More than just worrying about his clan, but other matters plague him.

He can forget, for a time.]
