Asher's comments on his lungs produce a deeper frown from Korrin, unable to deny that he indeed sounds terrible. And he's not supposed to sound like a wheezing old man when he's in his prime, a great bear of a man who's shrugged off every danger Thedas has thrown at him. It unnerves her in a way she's not ready to admit, and she shifts her weight uncomfortably.

So focusing on augurs and whatnot, it is. She nods grimly to Asher's and Melisende's comments, crossing her arms. "A true shame, the people from the Chantry could learn from the Avvar even though they'd never admit to lacking wisdom that the 'unwashed barbarians' possess. They've already made the call to let him live, unwise as that is. I don't care what happens to him, but the thought of that asshole dragging down anyone else with him...." Her lips form a thin line. "Sounds like your ritual would be the best bet to prevent that. But would it work on corrupted spirits? Demons?"

The other reason Amalia and Gunnar aren't around? Both of them are feeling guilty about what they couldn't do to help him even if there was no other choice at the time, Asher can see it and sending them both away to unload supplies then get drunk makes the most sense. Keeps them busy, stops them moping around. Amalia should be a firebrand, Gunnar should be up to no good with Yngvi, neither of them should be hovering around him like he's made of glass.

"Well one day it'll mean that the Chantry and the Imperium can eat each other, the Qun can fuck itself, and us heathens, elves, surfacers, Vashoth and whatever else can inherit the world right? At this point...he's corrupted a spirit, he's corrupted himself, probably corrupted other people around him that believe that he's done the right thing. Weak mages are watched over to make sure they aren't corrupted, the ones that won't separate are exiled, but the corrupted are killed. A hard life makes for hard choices and hard people, holds don't want abominations more than anywhere else does."

"Preaching to the choir, Asher, as always." If only the Qun, the Imperium and the Chantry would simultaneously implode, that would be lovely...but she's not about to hold her breath waiting for that to happen any time soon. The small wistful smile she has as that thought fades, replaced by talk of corrupted spirits instead. "If you haven't told this to Adelaide, I hope you do. She seems more open to non-Circle practices than a lot of her kind I've met, but still believes he can be saved. I don't know what she'll do if he can't."

"And who would Adelaide be?" Do you think Asher bothers to keep track of most of Skyhold? Well, he does to a point but generally he's been more concerned with learning about the soldiers, the various mercenaries, the common people, and everyone he's actually met himself. He keeps himself out of mage and templar business unless it happens to him personally as far as his friendships with the former go or when a templar invites themselves into his space before he can tell them where they can ram it. "She's deluding herself. Even if they can drive the spirit out, you'll have a corrupted spirit and you're going to have the man that corrupted it with his actions. Two birds one stone, spare herself a bit of heartache in the process."

Korrin heaves a sigh, nodding. "You're not wrong, it'd be a lot easier. But she's a Spirit Healer allied to a spirit of Compassion, so you can guess where that's going. They give until it hurts and well past then. Normally, I trust her judgement; she's a level-headed voice at the Council when we need one, and outside it. But this...it's only going to end a mess, and that's being generous."

Yawning large enough that his jaw cracks, he shakes his head. "Soft hearts in the soft, and not one of you know what you're doing with spirits. I hate cutting this short when it's been a month but I'm fucking shattered and I've actually got a bed that's not a cart. Come by tomorrow, yeah? And tell Mal I'm askin' for him. S'good to see you Ataash."

"Hell yes, to both. Bronson could use some playtime with Jayne anyway." Because it's all about the dogs, of course, not him. Korrin's smile is wry as she gives Asher a gentle shove before straightening. "Rest up, Asher. My girls are on their way, and Lena will never let you hear the end of it if she first meets you like this."
