Let No Soul Hunger For Justice: Nothing But The Truth

WHO: Adelaide, Alistair, Anders, Bethany, Nathaniel, Varric, Vasran, Velanna
WHAT: The Second Ritual
WHEN: 10th of Bloomingtide (May 10th)
WHERE: half an hour outside of Skyhold
NOTES: Plotting post.

They've kept to the same clearing as the last, because the location's good. Far enough away that no one could stumble upon them by accident, near enough in case something went seriously wrong, it works.

He has scarcely more hope this time than he did the last, but at least there's no singing involved. This can't go as strangely. In theory.

I didn't say that, I said we don't have trouble with them. Because blood magic is not forbidden to Dalish practitioners, that thrill of danger is less tempting.

[At least that's how she'd looked at it. Obviously they have blood mages. Everyone has blood mages.]

You should all strive for more. If it just works you may as well be using a hammer as a battering ram. Yes it works but it takes forever.

It is not the thrill of danger that calls mages to blood magic, nor the fact that it is forbidden. It is the power it promises when they are made to feel weak. When the whole of your worth is narrowed down to what you can do for the Circle with your magic, when that is insufficient and you are treated as lesser for it? The promise of power can be an overwhelming thing. If we were allowed to be more than mages, if we were seen as such, it would not solve the problem but it might help.

[ How easy it is to look back and see the system so broken. ]

It took me two years, fifty two meetings with the First Enchanter, seventy essays, and a six hour debate on the safety of the project before I was permitted to teach something not already outlined in the Circle's doctrine. Deviations, change, innovation? Are frightening and more often than not squashed with bullshit bureaucracy. I only managed because I was too stubborn to quit and too spiteful to let them win.
