WHAT: Sam is taking time to learn about his magic and certain items. Otherwise enjoying not being in the desert.

The Western Approach had been quite the trip; blistering sun, hot sand, dragons, demons... a trip to the Fade. Enough that Sam needed some time to recuperate - which only lasted for like a day before he was right back into the swing of things.

[Healing Tents]
There were still many injured after the mission, or sick after the mission, so of course Sam spends a decent amount of time at the tents to help get everyone on their feet. Thankfully it is not like when that illness had hit Skyhold so there are chances to actually breathe and rest.

[Armory]
Much like after the Fallow Mire, there were many things to deal with once the troops were back from the Western Approach. There were new materials to work into new equipment, and armor and weapons needed mending - the enemies and rough conditions had certainly worn their gear down.

When he has free time, Sam can still be found in the forge, mostly to look over a new sword hilt he's acquired from the ruins. It is a strange sword considering it doesn't have a blade, in the sense that it had been made without one in the first place.

[Training Ring]
After nearly losing an eye - not really but it had clipped a bit of hair off, which lead to him getting the rest of it cut a bit shorter to match - Sam has figured what that strange hilt was. Apparently he had found a magical sword, or rather greatsword judging by the size of it. Curious by his new finding he is often at the training ring when he isn't busy in the forge or at the tents.

[Stables]
At times the mage can be found in the stables, sitting across from a particular purple "moose". When he isn't sketching it, he is often walking the Hart around or taking it for a ride outside the gates - with permission of course.

[Kittens X X]
Sam is now a new owner of two kittens. Most of the time he keeps them up in the loft while he's relaxing, but it isn't fair to keep them cooped up. Every once in a while he does take them out either the two of them chasing after his on the ground or each perched on a shoulder or tucked away in an arm.

[Wildcard]
Anything and everything you might possibly think of, go for it.

Lena watches with a bit of curiosity, having not had magical healing done to her before. She likes the scars she's gained in fights, and wears them proudly.

"All that running around in the Western Approach. Think I got a bunch of sand in my socks, rubbing at my skin to start, and my boots are shit now. Mercenaries travel all over, and not always by horse. Sometimes we gotta walk, and these old, busted up boots have seen better days."

Scars were well and good if you wanted them, but blisters on the bottom of your feet weren't exactly something you should suffer through if you had a way to treat them. They did travel around by foot a lot so it would only get worse.

"Sounds like you need a new pair of boots." Now would be the time to get it done, too, since they were between missions. He hoped - they all needed a bit of a break. "Think I'm still finding sand in my boots, among other places, but nothing this bad."

It isn't long before the blisters heal up on the one foot, and he lets Lena set it back down. "The other one please."

Lena's head tilts and her eyes widen in a bit of mockery to his very obvious statement. She doesn't like the obvious being pointed out. It's a waste of time and words. Of course, it's all right when she does it, but no one ever says Lena is fair.

"You don't say!" This is brand new information!

She sticks out her other foot, ready to get this over with.

At the mocking tone Sam raises his brows. "Would you rather me ask you how you're enjoying the weather? Talking specifically about your blisters isn't exactly small talk I want to make." And judging by how she first came in and with her purposeful movements she wasn't really in the mood of small talk in the first place.

"Why do you have to make small talk at all?" she asks, eyes narrowing down at him. "Afraid of silences? Can't keep your mouth shut? I think more injured would appreciate not having you say how the injury could have been avoided after the fact. That doesn't help and I already know."

"Never told you how to avoid getting the injury. Can't do much about sand in your boots and them failing on you after so much hard work. Just pointed out the obvious since it makes sense that a mercenary would come up with a lot of injuries from being on their feet all the time."

Even if he's being stared at, Sam doesn't look up, used to all sorts of things being said to him or even at him. The only thing he'd be worried about is a swift kick, punch or a weapon getting tossed at him, which would be bad form to do on a healer who was helping you.

"Small talk is just a good way of figuring out my patient if I don't know them, and helps pass the time. Course if you just want me to be silent I could just do that."

Lena rolls her eyes at his explanation. What kind of logic is that? It's just a waste of time to say it.

"Yeah, do that." He's nearly done anyway, right?

Sam gives a shrug and keeps quiet as promised, focusing more on his magic.

It's only about a minute or so more of casting before the glow dies away and he drops his hands. Remaining silent he motions for her to take her foot back.

She does and looks over his work. The skin looks good as new and after rubbing a thumb over the area, she confirms it.

With that done, she starts pulling on her socks. It's a good thing that was fast. She has shit to do, like find better boots. But once her old boots are on, she stands and double checks how her heels feel with a quick lift up onto her toes. Up and down, up and down, until she nods, satisfied.

"See you around," she says, moving to head out the tent. The nod was basically her thank you.

"Hopefully not around here." While he was in the healer tents he always made a point to never say 'see you around' or the like. People would always come to the tents for healing, but he didn't want to make it sound like he wanted to see them back there.

He gives a nod in return and offering a small wave, watching as she goes.
