I. Training Circle
Heaving the maul up on his shoulder, Taas grins a little bit as he steps out of the ring. That had been a pretty good fight, and he's pretty certain the soldier would remember to keep his balance with a large weapon this time.
Rolling his neck a bit, the big warrior limbers up a bit before reaching to grab the mug of ale by the side, taking a drink from that before he turns back. "Anyone else?"
II. Sign Language 101
The warrior isn't sure how the little lessons in sign language he had given Cyril and Sam now seemed both common knowledge but gaining interest from other people. It makes him a little bit awkward as he tries to explain the difference between spoken words and the way sign language worked for what felt like the umpteenth time.
He was happy, really. It made his life a lot easier, and if he expanded it, it could even give the troops a way to communicate silently with something more detailed than hand signals. At other times, he's pretty certain they only want an excuse to flirt with him.
"So... why do you want to learn this?" He asks, brown eyes studying the new arrival.
III. Tavern
Taas doesn't spend as much time in the tavern as he used to, but when he does come in to drink and have a good time, he allows himself to completely relax and set everything else aside. With booze, music and friends, he could bury the events of the last missions far back in his head and instead just enjoy the moment.
Catch up with friends, meet new people, pick up someone for the night.
Afterwards, he either went home with that somebody or walked out alone in the courtyard, buzzed and smiling as he looked up into the sky. Skyhold really had a beautiful night sky even with the torches and braziers going, and the sound from the tavern - song and laughter - settled his body and mind into something worthy of his name.
Calm.
IV. Wildcard!

Kirk watches him step away and follows him to look out over the arena. The soldiers seemed impressive enough to him, though he had no plans to become one of their number. He wasn't one for soldiering, and while he believed that the Inquisition wanted to do good and right - well, the best intentions could go awry. He wanted, he thought, to learn more of their leadership before anything else.
"I never expected to be here at all, so we're both in the same boat in a kind of way," he chuckled, turning back to him and nodding. "Sure. Um, I know these - " He went through the signs for thank you, I'm sorry, me, you, and I love you, saying them as he signed them. "That's more or less all I actually know."

"Alright, I'll go through some races with you, so you can point people out to me in case any of them stole your ale." He jokes, and then starts with 'human'. Unlike the usual gesturing to yourself as you did in ASL, however, he makes a rounded sign by the ear that turned back and forth like he was screwing a dial, followed by a finger to his cheek, swiping down.
"That's 'human'. Then we have 'elf'..." A touch by the base of the ear and then pulled outward with the fingers cupped into a tip, like he was making an elf ear. "...and 'dwarf'." The signs for 'short' with one hand, and the other making a beard at his face.
"Making sense so far?"

He watched curiously as Tass made all the signs, though he was most curious about the human one. He understood the ear portion, but the swipe down the cheek was... interesting. He didn't see the point of it.
"Yeah, makes sense, though... why are you making a tear or a human?" he asked, miming the swiping down the cheek motion. The others made perfect sense, and he had no problem with the idea that the gestures would be linked to physical attributes (though he did find the inclusion of a bear for a dwarf humorous).

He obviously needed more human friends.
"I'm not really a teacher, so I'll probably fuck up plenty when it comes to teaching. Let's continue?" Male, female. Tall, short. Large, thin, average. Signs to describe people.

"Why do the qunari use a tear?" he asked curiously, because now that he knew of course he was going to follow that line of questioning, even as he made the mental not to, as Taas said, just use the first part.
Well, lucky for him, Jim Kirk was here now.
He had to grin at that disclaimer, shrugging his shoulders. "That's all right. I promise not to blame you if someone punches me for a wrong sign." He's teasing of course, following along with Taas' signs. They're pretty straight forward, so this lesson, at least for now, is fairly simple.

Jim Kirk could be a damn good human friend, from what he'd seen so far. Hopefully he liked drinking, so Taas could buy him one later from being a dumbass.
"Hey, if I accidentally teach you 'ugly bastard' instead of 'hi' you're more than welcome to blame me for any teeth you lose." The big warrior is pretty impressed with Jim's proficiency with the signs, though, and moves on to short sentences.

"Don't apologize. It's not your fault," he shook his head at him, deciding that it was a subject to press another time and instead focus on the rest of the signs.
And yes, he did like a good drink, Taas. He could hold his own quite well now, actually, thanks to a certain incident - not that he couldn't before, but he certainly felt hardier. He would accept the drink when Taas offered it for sure, though he would wave off the reasoning behind it.
"Eh, more than likely I will have earned it doing something else," he laughed and waved it off before following the short sentences. Sign language had a logic to it, so it was easy to sort them out in his head, though his fingers were clumsy with the motions. Practice, of course, would smooth them out, but understanding was simple enough.
