That is sort of a lie and sort of not. She's honestly not sure how she feels about it, and she and her grandmother have never spoken about it, so. It is what it is - the past, done.
Adelaide playing along makes her smile widen, and she pauses a moment, glancing over her shoulder as if to ensure no one could overhear, before tilting her head to murmur against Adelaide's ear, pausing a moment for suspense, because Ruby Lucas is ridiculous, no matter what else you call her. "Charlotte."

Perhaps she is reading too much into these things.
But a name, oh. A warm waft of air, perhaps the barest brush of contact but that name? To be trusted with it at all no matter how strange or absurd warms something in Adelaide. Her lips curl faintly, a smirk if there ever was one as she echos. "Charlotte. I should have known, you certainly look like one."

She doesn't flinch, but her expression grows a little more serious as she moves.
It's easier to smile at something more whimsical. "Do I?" Novel concept. "Truth be told, there's a lot of magic in names. At least, that's what I've heard. Knowing someone's true name can give you a sort of power over them, according to some." And, dramatically, "use your power responsibly, Captain."

But that is yet to come and this? This is them, walking to some manner of restful surprise, not thinking of work or shadow or curses. Adelaide reaches up to brush some of Red's hair out of her face, voice low and kind. "I shall endeavor to be worthy of your trust, Charlotte."
