[Open] Remembering one of the good guys

WHO: Anyone who knew/cared about Herc!
WHAT: A wake for Herc
WHEN: Around now, the 10th of Egg
WHERE: Tavern!
NOTES: Drinking, grief, etc.

There aren't any formalities here. The Calling has taken another Grey Warden, but for once he was known to more than Wardens and mourned by more than them too. The music is lively to start with, mostly because Herc probably would have grumped if it had all been sad and there's a tab at the bar open to anyone worthy. Granted, one has to manage to be polite to all the Grey Wardens for the duration of the wake to be deemed worthy, but that's not too hard, is it?

Hit up the bar, share a story, complain about how he owed you money, and remember someone who deserves it.

Her eyes widen. "You were there." She hadn't gone, hadn't opted to go. It was either serious Warden business talking (even if it didn't turn out that way) or help in the Approach, and honestly, her talking skills are not good. Especially around Wardens. Her tongue might have loosened in accusation. "He knew even then what would happen?"

She was there. Merrill doesn't necessarily like that fact -- sure, she got the griffons out, but she still feels like there was more she could have done. Still, she nods. "I think he did. If everyone else stopped hearing the Calling but he was still hearing it... he must have." And he didn't say anything.

"...He didn't want anyone to worry. He didn't want anyone to stop him." She convinces herself for a hot minute that she would've stopped him, that she even could have. "Do you know what happens if a Warden ignores it?" The elf seems to know quite a lot.

"I don't. But..." Alistair had told her they were tainted. Would they change, become ghouls like so many others who were infected had? Would they whither away, die?

"I think it's a death sentence, to them. They'd rather go out fighting than wait."

"...That does sound like what a Warden would do. Sounds like Hercules." Rachette is not good at improving moods or changing subjects to something less hurtful, but she's going to give it a go for the sake of the elf. And maybe her own sake, just a little. "So...Wardens and griffons...that's a thing. I'd never seen one before. Are they...rare? Are they the Wardens' mounts?"
