[Open] Remembering one of the good guys

WHO: Anyone who knew/cared about Herc!
WHAT: A wake for Herc
WHEN: Around now, the 10th of Egg
WHERE: Tavern!
NOTES: Drinking, grief, etc.

There aren't any formalities here. The Calling has taken another Grey Warden, but for once he was known to more than Wardens and mourned by more than them too. The music is lively to start with, mostly because Herc probably would have grumped if it had all been sad and there's a tab at the bar open to anyone worthy. Granted, one has to manage to be polite to all the Grey Wardens for the duration of the wake to be deemed worthy, but that's not too hard, is it?

Hit up the bar, share a story, complain about how he owed you money, and remember someone who deserves it.

"At least until they begin choosing their companions, I imagine. That might provide the proper incentive." Inessa's silent for a moment, watching the Dalish woman and her mabari with a small smile. "Perhaps...one could be renamed in honor of Warden Hercules. It would seem fitting tribute, for a symbol of the order to bear the name of a Warden who spearheaded their rescue."

She doesn't feel it right to claim that for herself, as she barely knew the man, but other Wardens here might want to honor their friend.

Well, if Oghren were around, he might keep Burp named Burp. The rest... Merrill nods, humming thoughtfully. "I wonder if the griffons name their riders, in their own language. That would certainly be interesting to know!"

Naming one after Hercules, however, seems- like an incredibly touching tribute. She smiles softly, tracing over the griffon on her necklace. "I think that would be lovely."

The necklace is noted and Inessa echoes the smile. "When the griffons seem ready to consider riders, it will be an option, at least. As for the griffons naming us, I wouldn't be surprised--they are rather intelligent, after all. I wasn't able to read as much of the Weisshaupt archives as I would have liked, so sadly I can't confirm anything. But given their variety of sounds, I would think it possible."

Hopefully the names are somewhat more flattering. But, well. "I wasn't, either- I mean, I only really had a day before everything sort of exploded, but several of the books about griffons were already gone. I imagine Maja may have had them, but I don't know if she somehow got them out with her."

Somehow, she doubts it.

"I'll ask her when I see her again. If I find out that she did, I'll let you know. I don't care if you're part of the order or not; such shared information can only do us good." And she's so very tired of keeping secrets when there's no need for it. Learning about griffons isn't the same as going over the details of Warden rites anyway. Come fight her, Weisshaupt.

"Oh- thank you." It's the second time today a Warden has promised to share secrets, the third this week. Merrill isn't sure how to take it, honestly, but she is grateful. "She might be willing if it's me anyway, since I helped get them out? I mean, I don't think Maja cares much for- things that aren't the griffons, at this point."

"I can't really blame her, given the mess Weisshaupt was, and the importance of a species thought extinct. It's too bad they didn't reappear earlier, in a way; we could be in the middle of the Griffon Age, otherwise." Not that reappearing dragons weren't important too, but it does seem a lost opportunity.
