WHO: The Righteous Snow Teams & anyone who wants to watch (and laugh, and judge.)
WHAT: A GIANT SNOW FIGHT.
WHEN: 13th July or whatever the IC equivalent is.
WHERE: In the valley near Skyhold.
NOTES: ooc post 1 and also ooc post 2. The snow fight itself is closed to those that signed up, but the observation/chilling afterwards stuff is open. No warnings to add here, please put any that come up in the subject lines!

Also we have room for one more last minute sign up!

Wrap up warm! It probably goes without saying that certain medical personnel will be less than sympathetic to those who come to them with colds after this.

The valley near Skyhold has never really completely defrosted, given how high up they are in the Frostbacks, and Adelaide's students have found themselves working with an environment very receptive to the reintroduction of cold, even in the summer months.

The battle field is impressive. Each of the six teams has their own fortress, forming a rough circle on a thick blanket of snow. Each fort has one flag flapping over all others, the only one each has that cannot be stolen (or, at least, would be very challenging.) Their other seven flags are considerably smaller, and where they are depends entirely on how the team opts to defend them. The vast majority of the snow is white, but there are generous patches within and around each fort that matches that Team Fort's colour. Each fort is a little different, but comes with a catapult build inside it, and scattered around the field are large snow drifts, some battering rams, and a trebuchet. (No trebearchet, sadly. We can always dream.)

Every team member is given a sash of their team colour, and a round wooden shield that is so padded that hurting someone with it would actually be quite an accomplishment.

Far enough away to be spared the fighting, but not to entirely escape the chill that has been renewed in the valley, are some benches. There is warm cider and some food being served, and people are welcome to come and watch (and laugh, and judge) and/or hang out with the noble warriors once the fight has wound down.

IC-ish RULES AND STUFF.
1. NO WEAPONS, NO MAGIC.
Assume there is unlimited snow - some dyed to match team colours - so there are snowballs galore! Every person also gets an extremely well padded round shield as a chance to defend themselves. Don't use the shield as a weapon, pls and ty.

2. FLAAAAGS.
Each team gets seven flags that match their team colour. The IC goal is to capture as many flags as you can, but OOCly this is flexible and timey wimey and you don't need to worry about keeping track of flags bc who has time for that?

3. NO VIOLENCE.
Or, more accurately, no going out there to hurt people - it is a snow fight and there is siege equipment, let's not kid ourselves. That said; no tackling anyone smoller than you. If you hurt someone, apologise and don't be an ass. Don't make an NPC referee come after you.

4. BASICALLY JUST HAVE FUN.
Characters can't be eliminated unless they're being a big jerk, but no one wants that to happen because friendship is magic, or something. If it's fun and its awesome then odds are it's totally fine, unless it'd put a character in danger.

There will be an IC prize for winning, which will be ICly due to happen after Orlais since that opens up so soon after the snow fight.

A quick recap on how the winners will be determined OOCly - in three weeks time I will do a tally of points based on comment count and tagging around done per team. Three weeks will hopefully allow everyone a chance to dive in even if unexpected RL things happen, as they are wont to do, and not put on too much pressure with the Orlais plots opening up.

How to get points:
1. Open starters! Every team will get 2 points per team member that posts an open starter.

2. Tag around! Every team will get 2 points every time a team member tags a new person. (If character A tags characters B, C & D they will get 6 points total for tagging around - three different threads with character A and character B would still only result in 2 points.)

3. Keep threads going, hop around and have fun! Every comment by a team member will be worth 1 point. (Multi-comment responses ie. one tag split over two or more comments will still only count for 1 point.)

4. Be hilarious, do something awesome, idk persuade me that something is worth an extra point. NO SERIOUSLY, TELL ME I love excuses to reward people for puns and/or being absurd.

5. IC rule breaking may result in points being taken away because how rude.

She smirked at him and shrugged. "It's not just you. I'm pretty sure I had a few people shove show down my shirt a few times as well. Or pelt me in the face." Because copping a snowball to the face was fun. Her grin grew a little more, "I think we can call it even on who is cold and wet."

Lexa's more flustered than Clarke and more confused too, snatching the scrambling orange-white attacker up in both hands, holding it safely away from her chest and Clarke's face. It takes her a second to figure out it's a puppy and not-- well she doesn't know what, exactly. An attack-fox? A tiny orange bear? Whatever. Something bad. She gentles her hold almost immediately as she realizes and sets it down (well clear of faces) when Clarke seems familiar enough to give it a name. A cute name, too. It's pretty cute, now that she takes the time to look at it, and she reaches back out with a gloved hand to ruffle its ears.

When Dally goes back to gently mauling a tie on her sash, Lexa lets it happen, and instead reaches out again to help Clarke sit up if she wants, once she's got the snow off her face.

"Is this your dog? Dally?"

Lexa is about to. About to get past him, that is, not to try. There is no 'try'. It's probably going to take the form of something at least mildly violent and painful for Bellamy, but he never gets a chance to find out because instead snowballs explode off the sides of their heads.

She's caught off-guard, head jerked around looking for the source even as she's still rubbing snow out of her eyes and ears (ow). She spots Clarke and the urge to retaliate wanes, but her lips still purse and eyes roll, a little. She says nothing, but takes advantage of the moment to brush past Bellamy, the effect ruined by the gloved finger she has in one ear digging snow out.

Merrick has no problem distracting Ruby while Anders makes his way up. He hops around, finding different vantage points to throw from, moving quickly to avoid getting hit himself.

Conditions are slippery, though, and he's on her turf. Not to mention the fact that she'd managed to detect him-- She's clearly no one to underestimate.

(Is he taking this entirely too seriously? Maybe. But it's a snow fight, damn it, and he's playing to win.)

Oh most definitely. But circumstances dictated that he give up his preferred position, sadly. He could resume it later, though. That was one of the pleasures of living with your target.

"Who knows? Why give away my element of surprise?" he winked at him.

"Oh, well, in that case - that'a a definite 'yes'." He knows you Kirk. He doesn't know when - more than likely in the bedroom - but he knows it's going to happen.

Course despite being cold, wet and periwinkle he's smiling, abeit shaking his head just a bit. "Off to tackle some other poor soul then?"

The corners of Sina's mouth twitch at Beleth's sudden surreptitious glancing around; it's sort of funny, considering both of them have made close friends of shem'len in the Inquisition, but at the same time there's still need for the secrecy.
"They'll still receive our help," she points out, "and our ability to be liaisons between the Inquisition and our clans. We can't promise their help, but we can, perhaps, at least promise peace. Maybe even shelter for agents, if it comes to that." She focuses on the prong of one antler, falling silent for a beat.
"And if they won't assist with sending crystals, perhaps we can come up with something else. Or request trained birds, something of that nature."

Bellamy isn't anywhere in sight, but behind a screen of tree branches, he's watching with narrowed eyes as Lexa is nice to his dog. (Their dog.)

Dally, in answer to Lexa's question, looks up at her with the tie in her mouth. "Grrr," she says, but her cocked ears (so ruffleable!) and waggy tail tells the truth: yes, Dally is her name. You wanna go?

Good, because Dally does. She breaks her stare to start jerking her head back and forth, the tie still in her teeth, and her whole body wiggling with the force of her movements.

Fortunately for Lexa, Bellamy is too distracted by the snowball that hit him in the head to really register her very dignified departure. He actually stumbles out of her way, since he's hit second, and by the time he's pawing snow off of his face, Lexa has already fled the scene, or marched off like a very cool snowfight warlord, depending on your point of view.

And some small progress is made here today, by the way, indicated in Bellamy's choice of pursuit. He looks after Lexa and thinks seriously about annihilating her. Maybe even with snow.

Then he grabs a handful of snow and goes after Clarke instead--probably out of self-interest, or maybe because going after Clarke will be more fun. Definitely not because he's scared of an Avvar in a snowfight.

Progress.

You're her favourite Warden. The least useless. The only one she will actually defend as having done anything of value at all. Ever. In their whole life. The only one still trying to do something useful with their life (unless she's with Gwen but that's two women chatting over wine and that's not at all alarming when Gwen dotes on Kieran, and Kieran trots along after Gwen when he gets the chance.)

Once Morrigan would have said something about Alistair being free to break his neck, that she would've given him the push; now she half-manages to hide the flinch at the thought of the broken bones if something were to go awry. "There is a Qunari warrior, a Tal-Vashoth warrior, and a Vashoth mage if you are in such a hurry to break a limb," she mutters but she gestures to the slopes with her stave as Kieran bounces because look, you've put an idea in his head. "If you can procure a sled, I can make it so the mountain itself is one great slide for us."

You're in back obviously Alistair because you're the tank and the heaviest.

She can kind of see them, even through her wet lenses, since they're obligingly standing out in the open. She's not going to outrun them, that's obvious, so instead she just lobs some snow at one of them - she has no idea which one hit her, and it doesn't really matter - to see what they do.

If they get close enough, she's definitely smaller. She could try to tackle them. She's not sure it would be very effective.

Clarke wouldn't abandon the search for Bellamy if more were at risk, but it's only snow, so she does--because puppy. Their puppy. She waves away Lexa's hand--not unfriendly, but self-conscious, aware now that if Bellamy could be watching--and sits up on her own to watch Dally viciously attack Lexa's coat.

"Hendallen," she says, and reaches out to gently take hold of her tail. Not to pull her away from Lexa or draw her attention or do anything at all except hold her tail, watching her wiggle with exactly the terrifying degree of fondness someone with her protective instincts would feel toward a helpless and criminally adorable puppy. "Bellamy and I found her."

Dally's ears are so ruffleable, and when she starts wiggling and tugging Lexa gives in to the instinct to reach forward and ruffle them with a gloved hand. It's a gentle gesture, with the slight edge of uncertainty of someone who isn't a total stranger to dogs but maybe doesn't interact with tiny adorable ones much. She's charmed, but cautious about it and also trying not to smile like a dope. Is she even allowed to like this puppy?

When Clarke's hold on Dally's tail doesn't tug her away from Lexa, she takes that as license and tugs back on the string instead. It's not hard enough to rip it free of Dally's teeth but just enough to give her a bit of a challenge. She wanted to go, after all.

"She seems very fierce. How did you choose that name?" Hard in Hightown didn't get as far as the Avvar.

Dally lets go of the cord to yawp at Clarke. Her head is a little disproportionate still, in that adorably off way that puppies have, but she does her best at dog glaring without wriggling away, until the lure of the cord moving gets her attention again and then, yes, back to battle. Her tail can stay pinched between Clarke's fingers for now. The pressing matter is the elusive cord, which she surges forward to snap at again.

With an adorably aggressive growl-bark, because, you know. Puppies.

"Yes, very jealous of you tackling people," he says with a shake of his head, watching Kirk run off back to his fort before taking a moment to look at his stomach now that he had a better view. Yep, that was going to be there for a bit.

"I wouldn't mind teaching you. I can show you some of the fancy dances, too! That way, you can dance with someone when we go to Orlais. Assuming we get invited to fancy balls, or anything..." She paused, mulling over that for a few moments. "I don't know if they'd invite me. I doubt a Dalish has ever attended an Orlesian ball. But you could probably go, even if you didn't get invited." What with his whole...appearing and disappearing thing. "But I would like to teach you. It'll be fun." With that, she flashed a bright smile at him.

"His dignity," She assures him, "could use a little harm." Certainly, it had taken more than Beleth's attempts at prodding him to make any dents. Maybe Martel would be more effective. Certainly, Beleth wasn't above testing the theory.

She spent a few moments watching the fight that was still raging on, unsure of what to say. Shit. He was going to think she was super boring or something like that. "I told you that I was going to tell you Dalish tales some day. I can do that now, um. If you want. If not, I'd understand. But if you do, I can tell you--um. About our history, or our gods? Or just something silly." What's the most impressive story she can think of? Most of them are 'and then humans ruined everything'.

Beleth knows that most of her human friends are good-hearted, but they are human, still. And no one particularly likes hearing about what an asshat their entire race is. Especially humans. It's always good to be cautious.

"You're right. I like the idea of offering to shelter agents. That would be useful, and it wouldn't quite...promise so much to the Inquisition. The birds are a good idea, too. I wonder if Leliana would allow the clans to have some of her ravens...?"

There's a contemplative look on Beleth's face, then her entire expression freezes, her eyes widen, and she slowly grows a grin that is positively nefarious.

"We could send Baron Plucky to my mother."

She staggers back a bit, red-faced and turning around to face the laughter, and starts laughing herself. Still a bit stunned and thoroughly embarrassed, not guffawing like Blackwall, but still laughing.

But she's not handing over the flag. Actually, Blackwall is so beside himself that she's going to take advantage of his incapacitated state and start running for the exit again.

Better to worry about snow wars than real ones, Dany thinks. This game is a good distraction, but not quite enough to keep her from remembering where she is... and where she isn't.

"I think I can," she teases in return, looking solemn. As such, Dany shrinks down against her own snow bank, shooting Bellamy a significant look, rolling a few snowballs to deposit in a pile near her feet.

Just as Anders is discussing that their target is gathering snow, Sam turns to look - only to get hit with a snowball. Well more like it grazes his leg, but technically that's still being hit. "I guess you're right."

He doesn't blame whomever it is for fighting back, but since they are, it doesn't seem like it's much of a big deal to attack back. With that in mind, Sam tosses his own snowball down at the figure, not stopping to see if the apricot colored snow actually hit before starting on a new one.
