It wasn't that Gorse wasn't afraid - his parents had warned him about Ben-Hassrath after all. They wanted to impress upon their son the dangers present in the outside world, the possible harm he could face and should be aware of, and he listened. He was a good kid, of course he listened to his parents.
Unfortunately(?) another lesson they taught him had already set in too deeply and overrode the initial fear or caution. That people were basically good, that there was no person in the world that didn't deserve a chance.
He'd meant what he said to Kas, that it could just be a misunderstanding. The fastest way to clear it up, then, seemed to be to go right to the source. He was Vashoth, he had nothing to fear even if all that he'd heard about Ben-Hassrath were true and the Iron Bull truly was one. He was more worried for his friends, for the Tal-Vashoth Taas, for poor Kas who seemed terrified.
The Iron Bull was known to be in the Tavern when he was in Skyhold and not training, from what Gorse heard, so he went there first. Pausing at the door just long enough to see the large Qunari lounging in the chair past the bard, he had just enough time to consider that this was certainly an awkward way to meet someone. Definitely a good story to tell his parents next time he saw them.
Striding up to him, making sure to not be on his blind side, Gorse was a little too concerned with the goings on of the day to offer up his usual bright and friendly smile. There also wasn't any point in asking if he was the Iron Bull - there were only so many qunari in Skyhold.
"Um - hi, we haven't met but - my name is Gorse, d'you have a moment or two to talk? It's kinda important, maybe private." If it was a misunderstanding that could be laughed off then there was nothing to worry about, but if it wasn't... things got a bit more complicated.
