[Closed] Player Plot: Desire Demon Possession

WHAT: Backstabbing, temptation, demon-slaying and bad endings. Kain has come back to the area and brought a “friend”! OOC information is here

WHERE: Mountains outside of Skyhold
NOTES: Contains violence, betrayal, eventual character death. Also, there’s no need to keep a specific tagging order, just keep things moving and jump in whenever! :)

It had been a good month so far. Kain had explored a great deal, seen some incredible lands and creatures, and overall gotten closer to clearing his head. He’d started even somewhat enjoying himself as he camped by night and traveled by day, unburdened by other responsibilities. But, eventually, he had to return. He had sworn his loyalty to the Inquisition, after all. He still had his redemption to work toward. So he’d started heading back in the direction of Skyhold.

Unfortunately, he’d been in the wrong place at the wrong time when a rift erupted. He’d started dealing with it… only to get overpowered by a desire demon. The creature remembered him from his trip to the Fade and was ready with temptations that overwhelmed him. Kain couldn’t stop it, not when the demon reminded him of what he truly wanted, deep down… to be stronger than Cecil, to be better overall, well admired and respected… and to have Rosa, all to himself. It was the Rosa illusion that really broke him. His love for her had been his downfall once before, and now it is again, in the worst possible way.

Claiming Kain was all too easy for the demon after that. All it had to do was dive in and take over the reigns. Kain’s mind was weak from his past experiences, all too open to being controlled by another. From there… the demon started testing out the limits of its new form, forcing Kain to do its will, exploiting his abilities alongside its own.

Wouldn't it be lovely to keep everyone together? No one will ever leave you behind, you'll never feel lonely ever again no, Rydia, it wouldn't be lovely, it'd be... fake. And There's nothing worse than the illusion of happiness, right? The woman crosses her arms, still trying to offer Bruce a vaguely confident smile. Kain is fine in her time, he's got a future.

"Of course he is, he took down so many monsters. Physical and mental ones, and he's a great warrior. We just have to find him, right? I'm sure he'll help us. Perhaps I should jump on this lady's back and see if she can help me find him..." Even if she's scared and she may just run away? Not a great idea, isn't it?

Bruce glances at Highwind's dracolisk, which has apparently managed to calm down enough now with the presence of familiar enough faces. Or maybe its just waiting for the moment to flee. Who knows.

"We'll find him," he reassures her. "And... I'm sure Highwind will want his mount when he find him. It would be better to bring it along with us." And the dracolisk that is with Bruce can probably offer as extra reassurance as well to keep it calm. Nothing like a fellow... dracolisk to help out, or something.

"Of course we will" It's her quick reply, there's no way she's coming back in her world (whenever that'll happen) just to tell Cecil Sorry, your BFF is dead/incapacitated/wounded/whatever! Rydia wraps her arms around the drakolisk's neck, keeping her close.


"You're right. But we shouldn't focus too much on this for the moment, we're here to investigate on the demons, not to search him. As much as I care about him we have priorities." Only because she knows Kain will be okay in the end, mind you. Friends always come before anything else. "Let's move on, sir, I'm sure we'll meet Highwind if he's around."

It's not as if Bruce can't understand her concern. In this land so alien to her, Highwind being the only other person she recognized had to be somebody important to her in this place. And his mount here after his leave from Skyhold... it was no doubt troubling.

But yes--they weren't here for Highwind. Bruce nods and purses his lips, not quite liking the situation, but knowing they had to proceed nonetheless. "We'll make sure to keep an eye out nonetheless, but I agree. We should press on." And hopefully down the road they would indeed find Highwind.

And soon she will be alone, little she knows about that. It's not like she doesn't like Skyhold or the other people's place and it'd certainly not be the first time she finds herself alone in another world after being kidnapped by some entity... but she's getting old and tired, having Highwind makes her feel a lot less lonely- so for now she wants to believe he will be fine.

"Don't worry about him, worry about us." Have a confident grin on her par, she's going to bite back her own words "This place makes me uneasy." And while ready to channel her magic to cast offensive spells, the summoner trained a lot to get some balance back, she'd rather avoid a fight.
