Cassandra keeps her head held high as she makes her way across the tavern to where her fellow Seekers sit waiting for her. If she attracts stares of recognition or hurried whispers as she walks, so be it. She will not hide who she is simply to avoid unwanted attention.
Still, she's glad to see that Malcolm and Aleron have already claimed what appears to be the most private, secluded table in the bar. She sits down with a quiet sigh of relief, nodding a greeting to them both.
"Seeker Reed. Seeker Darton."

Still, he's had manners hammered into his head since he left the womb, and doesn't hesitate to stand and pull out a chair for Cassandra. He suspects she won't care for the formality of it, but it goes against his nature to be anything but polite. There's a subtle nod of greeting, although he does forgo the superfluous motion to the seat that some would have added for effect.
"Lady Cassandra." Aleron is not forgetful of the fact that for all her colored career, she is still a woman of genteel birth. He's also quite convinced his mother would come screeching out of the woodwork to beat him about the head if he ever did slip and forget.
Malcolm gets a less stuffy greeting with a very light clap on the shoulder and another nod.

Now that greetings are out of the way, she thinks, they can lose some of the formality. Hopefully. Malcolm should be able to loosen up a bit, anyway. She's not so sure about Aleron.
But she sits, casually enough, and raises an eyebrow at Malcolm's question. "Is it not obvious?" she asks in surprise. She'd thought she'd made the invitation clear, but perhaps not. "It is your birthday this week, is it not, Malcolm? I thought we might celebrate."

"Yes, you've got me there. Though I daresay mine isn't the only one, isn't that so?" And he knows it isn't Aleron's. "My apologies, I had thought this might be business than pleasure, and I'm pleased to know that I'm mistaken."

None of which stops him from making an offer which he does not intend to be argued with. "Which means it's my job to pick up the tab tonight." He doesn't mind and is privately pleased for the chance to observe their birthdays without loud and obnoxious hoopla. He still has nightmares of the big bashes thrown for himself and Ravonild when they were children. Dreadful, loud affairs.
"Though if you want to work tonight, Malcolm..." He holds his hands out, indicating he won't stop the man from business if he's determined, not cracking so much of a hint of a smile. But that might have been a very poor attempt at making a joke.

"No. No work tonight." She looks up as a server approaches, ordering for them all. "Three ales - courtesy of Aleron." A grateful nod in his direction. "Thank you, Aleron. Although..."
She draws out the tension, reveling in it a bit as she fixes the entirety of her attention on the younger Seeker. "If I am not mistaken, Malcolm and I are not the only ones with something to celebrate."

It's flattering, really, that Cassandra would even remember. Though her teasing something about Aleron out gets his interest. "Is that so, you lucky dog?"

As realization hits, his face morphs from confused to embarrassed. Marvel if you both will at him emoting anything other than lineface and stoic. Not that he's in the least ashamed of that budding romance in his life. To the contrary, it's arguably the best thing to have ever happened to him. Still not sure he deserves it, but it's welcome all the same. But he is very much not at all used to anything in his personal life being a topic of conversation.
"Yes, I suppose I do." Not that he wants to steal their thunder on their birthdays. That would be quite rude. He never ever does rude. But he looks from Malcolm with a nod of affirmation that yes there is something good afoot for once, then to Cassandra with a subdued, "She's spoken to you, then?"

The idea that he might well be in for an angry Champion aiming for his head, should she reappear, has not escaped Aleron. Though, he doesn't mind. "I would suffer any ire she should feel right to inflict on me, if it means that Bethany might see her sister again." He feels it would be a betrayal to share her private confidences over how much she misses her family, but if he could bring them to her, he would. Even if it means he is the bait for a beating.
Really, count on Al to be the one to make a happy occasion sombre and somewhat serious.

"For what it is worth, Aleron, Bethany seems very fond of you," she says solemnly. "And if any man could be trusted to show his lover the thoughtfulness and devotion she deserves, I am certain it is you." She smiles.
"I hope you will be very happy together."

Is that a toast coming on? Yes. Yes it is. He grabs his drink and lifts it. "To happy futures for us all. And to the hope of peace in our lifetimes."
