In the courtyard of Skyhold there are assorted booths that sell a variety of items. When someone needs armor or other items, they can purchase them. The booth run by a small blond elf holds a variety of hunting traps, fighting traps, and other trinkets. He's fond of crafting little things of amusement, such a toys or puzzle boxes. Those typically don't sell as well, but he still enjoys working on them.

He's tinkering with one of them now, a sort of puzzle toy that has a couple moving pieces. He puts it together and tests it, then figures out he doesn't like the way it works and starts dismantling it to start over. Despite his apparent distraction, the moment someone comes near he looks up and smiles at them, welcoming them to spend gold here if they wish.

Sometimes dreams are all a person has, Cyril. But then someday things are set in motion and they become a reality. Just look at her.

She nods in agreement, hoping the dwarves of Orzammar take notice. The Inquisition and its message is being spread far and wide, so who knows? For now, she just finishes the sketch of the sun and tears it out of her notebook.

"Here you are. I can't wait to see it on your boxes."

[samahl]

He takes the sketch and admires it for a moment before folding it just enough to keep it easily on his person. "Thank you so much," he says.

Then, after a moment, "So, Sam and I are trying that whole being serious about each other thing." He knows that's very much out of left field, but he doesn't know how else to bring it up. Any time he discussed Sam around her it would have been clear he had a thing for the mage, but he would have always denied it until now - insisted they were just friends.

"I'm not sure I'll be any good at it, but he seems willing to give me a try."

Ellana blinks rapidly a couple times, as if needing to clear her head to be sure she's heard him right.

"Serious? You mean a relationship?" Her expression shifts to a huge grin. "Oh, Cyril, that sounds wonderful! And with Sam, too. See, I knew you liked him!" And she's hard pressed to pick any other man at Skyhold she'd trust with Cyril more. Trust in the sense of easing him into a relationship, that is.

"I suppose I do," Cyril says thoughtfully but her grin makes him look a little embarrassed. He doesn't show it though, rather he leans back and looks a little amused. "I'm surprised that he didn't."

[serannas]

"I think Sam errs on the side of 'everyone is friendly, but it doesn't mean more.' Probably because he's friendly to everyone too." Ellana shrugs and flips idly through her notebook. "I noticed long ago at the soiree that he looked sad because he and Krem had separated. I wished then that there was something I could do for him to lift his spirits, but since then I haven't really kept up with his relationship status. I'm glad he has you now." And now she smiles at him teasingly. "Now I don't have to spy on his significant other to see if they're good enough for him. I already know you are."

Cyril nodded a bit. "I noticed that about the soiree too. He and I went for a walk and I tried to cheer him up." He had also almost confessed his feelings back then too, but had stopped himself out of fear.

"I'm not sure about the last bit, but I hope I don't disappoint him."

[serannas]

"Oh, don't be hard on yourself, Cyril. You have a lot to offer someone." And she's sure Sam already sees it all and could never be disappointed in him.

[samahl]

"I have a lot to offer several someones," he reminds her. "Sam seems all right with that and for now I'm going to trust his word."

[serannas]

"I'm sure he knows his own heart, Cyril. And if anything changes, he'll talk to you about it. He's a good person." And would never intentionally hurt anyone.

[samahl]

"I think so too. He's been hurt before. I don't plan on doing that to him again." He offers her a small smile. "So, with him and Taas, I really have completed by blood traitor training, haven't I?"

[serannas]

"You make it sound like it's a course of study," she says, brow wrinkled as she tries not to sound too amused. It's a term she's never relished being called.

"Happiness is happiness, no matter the source. And you're in good company. I'm the last person to ever judge an elf for looking beyond other elves to find happiness."

[samahl]

Cyril does raise a brow at her. She is, after all, with a boy from Tevinter. But at least he seemed to be a good one. That was a relief, because if Ellana got hurt again they'd have some real trouble on their hands.

"Well, so far yours seems to be treating you well." Better than the elf she had been with had anyway. "If that changes you'll always have me to help you."

[serannas]

"Ma serannas. I appreciate that." Some elves might say she deserves whatever she gets, and that it's inevitable that a shem would mistreat her. They don't know Felix, though.

[samahl]

Cyril eats a bit longer, looking thoughtful. "I think... You know that dating a Warden is going to lead to pain, right?" his face is serious as he looks at her. "I'm not saying don't do it. Grab at it while you can. I'm just saying when it comes to that, I'll be here for you through that too. As long as you need me."

[serannas]

Cyril being serious is starting to become a normal occurrence, and Ellana finds that she likes it as well as the support he's offering her.

"That's good to hear, Cyril. I know what's going to happen. It's kept me up some nights. But..." She pauses to look away at the scenery around them in quiet thought before sighing and returning her gaze to him. "He's who I want. And for now, at least, I have him. When the time comes where I don't, I may need you."

[samahl]

He nods and then reaches out to touch her arm, showing that he means it seriously. "Of course. If nothing else, I'll bring sweets." He offers her a smile, unable to stay too serious for too long.

[serannas]

"Oo, sweets. My one true weakness." And she's back to teasing as well. It works for them. The serious moments should always be broken up by lighthearted ones.

"Thanks for lunch, by the way."

"Of course. Any time." And they settle into finishing the meal and making small talk until it's time to part again. He gives her a hug when it is. "Take care of yourself."
