WHO: Open to anyone that wants wine and warmth and a little company.
WHAT: Wine and no whining.
WHEN: After the mage meeting wraps up.
WHERE: Close to the healing tents, specifically the Orlesian section.
NOTES: There will be wine, drinking, unwinding, and nibbles.

The meeting had been stressful for just about everyone involved. Tempers had flared, opinions made known, a few rounds of confetti and arguing before some manner of accord. Whether it would last or however long it might? No one could truly say. In the interest of being quite done with the stress and headaches such debate brought on the Orlesian healing tents clearing out the potions, bandages, and poultices in favor of what cushions and braziers they had on hand for light and for heat. The space was open, warm, and inviting with an odd assortment of tin mugs or clay glasses set around flat side tables propped up with stones to keep them from wobbling and tipping the whole mass onto the ground. There are some dried fruits and hard cheeses, dried meat and hard crusted bread- whatever scraps they could scavenge or spare and a few bottles of wine or brandy. Across the entrance to the tents there was a sign:

Bring a bottle or food to share for entry.

Tacked below was a list of rules:

• Everyone is welcome, don't make a fuss
• Don't hog the wine
• Don't hog the food
• Don't fight or argue
• If you finish a bottle open a new one, don't recork it for someone else to find
• Clean up after yourselves

Merrick's ears twitch a little with interest. This is his chance to hear about the mage meeting from a different source, and he wonders how much she'll spill while under the influence.

He gives her some more hooch to move the process along. "Yeah? What happened there?"

Honestly, Korrin could be perfectly sober and still be interested in sharing information...or venting, same thing. The hooch certainly helps, though, so she'll take it. Her gaze hardens as she thinks back to the headache-inducing meeting.

"A prissy Senior Enchanter tried to make it an all-Circle thing; either join in that or not have a say in what goes on here. One of your clanmates and I shouted her down, which probably didn't earn me any friends with the Loyalists, but fuck 'em. We non-Circle mages should have some say in what happens to us, whether they like it or not. At least most people seemed to agree with that, so it wasn't a total loss."

"Things are never simple with you people, are they?" Merrick remarks impassively, lighting up his pipe.

There's a soft snort of faint amusement as Korrin shakes her head. "No, never. Saying it's like herding cats is an insult to the cats. We're never going to agree on a lot of things, so I'm sure this'll be the first of many headaches. Maybe every meeting should end with something like this, as an antidote."

"Why go along with it, then?" he inquires after a long drag. "The meetings. You--or your parents--fucked off from the Qun, didn't they? This seems almost as crazy."

Almost.

"My parents, but yeah." Korrin needs a moment to focus, weariness and alcohol taking its toll even as she's more put together than most deep in their cups. "I wouldn't give a damn about any of it, but I want to make sure they're not going to enforce a Circle on those of us who want nothing to do with one or judge us by Circle standards should someone blow up a fruit stand or something. Being loud and obnoxious and reminding them that us non-Circle mages will continue to exist is one way to do it."

Merrick watches her for a second, seeming to make a decision about her--and whether good or bad, it isn't clear. He then offers her some more hooch.

"Here. I've never shared this much with anyone before. You're welcome."

More hooch is always welcome. Reaching for a refill, Korrin flashes a grin. "Thanks for that. If I can make it up to you later, I will. If you're into any exotic vintages, let me know. Or qunari stuff, but even I don't like that shit. It's only good if you need to black out in a hurry and there are less painful ways to do that."

That 'qunari shit' actually sounds very appealing. Less work to get completely shit-faced, and that's always the goal.

"I don't care about painful," he assures her. "I need to try some of that stuff."

She shrugs, not about to stop him. "Hey, I'm no one's babysitter. You've been warned, and that's good enough for me. I'll see what I can do. Between my parents and kith, I'm sure someone will send a 'care package' sooner or later."
