I. SKYHOLD
Most days were good days for the warrior. He laughed, he smiled and he spent his time among friends and peers. Training, teaching, working for something.
Other days were not as good, when memories came to him and he swore he could almost hear again; the low thunder of the aftermath of an explosion. Those days Taas withdrew from the rest of the soldiers and spent his time on the battlements, looking at the mountains. It reminded him of freedom, to see the high rise of the snowy peaks - yet there was the the drop from the wall and deep into the chasm that settled his stomach even more.
Nothing came without danger, did it?
"Meraad astaarit, meraad itwasit, aban aqun," he says softly. There was nothing to struggle against, even when all he could see were the faces of his antaam.
Taas keeps his back free, his weapon in the barracks and his thoughts stubbornly on the future, but he could probably use a distraction.
II. TAVERN
Some nights Taashath spent in the tavern, having a few drinks and talking to people. He does his best to not get too drunk, but sometimes it was nice to let go and be the guy who had to sleep it off on the floor.
...few people could move him once he was down, after all.
Other nights he enjoys less alcohol and more games, and he's still trying to master Wicked Grace. Diamondback is more his thing, as well as Dead Man's Tricks. It would be nice to get some Qunari games in the tavern, but he doubted any of them were easily found in the south.
Join him for drinking or games?
III. TRAINING RING
The swing of his dragon-tooth mace crushed the target dummy under him, and he makes sure to follow up the weight of the weapon by bracing himself with his legs. Swinging the thing was different from his usual axe, but the destruction was obvious. Standing back, he looks at the broken piece of straw and wood, rolling his shoulders a bit.
He still preferred the axe, but Korrin's present was damn amazing.
"So who wants to spar? I need to work on my speed, and I'm sure I'll be decent training for facing any Red Templar behemoths." Taas grins, leaning a bit on the mace and looking at the people gathered.
IV. SIGN LANGUAGE CLASS
Taashath's sign language class was still going, although it was mostly teaching non-verbal commands to the scouts. The people who came back for more were always welcome, and it was really a blessing for the deaf warrior to have more people around that were able to sign. It meant he didn't always have to guess half the words people said to him, and the most important conversations couldn't be misunderstood.
(...silent ways of flirting was another thing that he was asked a lot, so Taas has to try not to laugh any time he sees it used outside his 'classroom'.)
The door to the semi-broken tower that the soldiers used as a place to nap between shifts during the night was always open when Taas was teaching, and by now he had dragged some old benches and blankets there to make it a little more comfortable.

Hard to miss even that little bit of excitement, and Kirk finds his own face reflecting it, his heart fluttering a bit in excitement. He did so love finding new partners for the game, even the simple - one dimensional version.
"A favor, a drink, a bauble, a kiss - all's fair," Kirk signed with a wink. "Is there a board around? If not, I have one we can play with."
no subject
"There's a board out in the courtyard, but the Commander seems to favor that one. I don't think there's one in the Taven, but I can take a look."
no subject
He rose from the table to put it in action, a bit of a bounce as he did so, clearly excited at the prospect of winning a kiss and playing the game itself - one more than the other, but not by much.

The warrior follows along, leaning down so he can get through the door and then heads to see if the board was free. It was a little cute, to see how excited the other man was about it - Kirk didn't need to play to get a kiss if he really wanted to, but honestly it made both chess and the prospects more interesting.

Seeing the board and that indeed no one was currently playing it, Kirk trotted over to claim it, swiftly adjusting pieces into their proper places from the previous match.
"A kiss for each lost piece, or a kiss for winning?" he inquired of Taas, waggling his brows. His fingers weaved the words slowly, partially from having to think about the shapes, but also because he liked to think it looked sexy. "I prefer the former."
no subject
His brown eyes are still full of warmth and amusement as Kirk signs, and he can't quite help the small chuckle that escapes him at the little 'sexy' twist to the movements. "You do, hm? Well, it better be an exceptional one as the winner's price if each lost piece is a kiss too."
It definitely wasn't a no, however, and he turns the board a bit so that Kirk is white.
"Your move."

He had always loved chess. It was one of his favorite games to play, especially against experienced opponents. It was a perfect way to stretch his mind, having to think both several moves ahead and laterally. In many ways it mirrored space-combat - even more so on the 3D boards.
"First kiss will be mine," he declared, pushing a pawn out.

There was a reason he wasn't a Ben-Hassrath. He was good at fighting things and following orders.
Still, it's a fun game with extra fun incentives behind it. "We'll see about that." Taas moves his pawn as well, mentally counting a few moves ahead.
no subject
"I'll make it up to you with those kisses," he winked.
no subject
Slowly moving the pawn to the side, he leans over to Kirk with a coy smile. "Alright. That's one kiss." He cups the other man's jaw in his massive hand and leans in to meet those lips with his own.
no subject
Oh, but that big hand feels nice. He likes big hands. He balances on the edge of the table, grinning as he met Taas' lips. There was nothing shy about his kiss, tongue brushing across Taas' lower lip before pulling back. He bit his lip around his smirk, sitting back.
"Think that's good enough for a pawn," he moved a piece, the suggestion clear that the more powerful a piece that was taken meant a longer kiss.
no subject
Despite how much he enjoyed that kiss, he keeps playing to win rather than losing pieces for kisses. It wasn't completely the point of the game, after all.
He also seems to getting his form again, shaking off the last cobwebs and playing better. The next piece that is lost is Kirk's, and Taas almost looks proud as he places his knight where the tower had been.
no subject
He clicked his tongue when his tower was taken, but nonetheless he leaned himself up and over, reaching out to cup Taas' jaw as Taas had done to him earlier and draw the other across the board to press their lips together - a deeper kiss this time, appropriate for the taking of a tower.

It was really a bit of a thrill, this game - and thankfully the chess board was fairly private so they wouldn't upset anyone with their shenanigans.
When he pulls back from the kiss, the warrior moves another piece almost immediately. He still had his head in the game, despite those lovely distractions.
no subject
Eventually it was him that lost another piece again, but he wasn't to sorry for it as he looked to Taas and cocked his brow, leaning over and simply waiting for the other to take his prize.

It was a great distraction, and so were the little silent quips from those quick fingers. The qunari was almost impressed when he managed to take one of the rifter's knights with his bishop. It put him dangerously close to the queen, but maybe he could make Kirk forget all about that.
He grasps Kirk's chin again, leading him into a deep kiss, fully open and deep as he let his tongue explore slightly while using his other hand to run his fingers through his opponent's short hair.
When he finally pulls back, his eyes are heavy-lidded and the smile more of a grin. Maybe Taas was the one that would forget about the game, the way he was now calculating if he could just lift Kirk into his lap and if the chair would hold for that.

Kirk was fairly sure he could win this match, even with the distractions. Tass was an excellent opponent, but this was Kirk's favorite game and he had a twisty mind when it came to tactics at the best of times. The game was going much slower than usual, given the interruptions anytime one of them lost a piece. Not that he didn't welcome them. Far from. He probably indulged a bit to much, happy to lose an extra piece as an excuse to lean over and kiss his teacher turned opponent.
The newest kiss drew out a soft moan, Kirk's hand bracing on the table atop Tass' to keep his balance as he leaned hard into it. Frankly it was hard to resist shoving the chess board off the table and crawling over to the larger man. He tilted his head into his touch, not pulling away from it when Taas disengage from the kiss. Kirk's lips were flushed dark pink by now, tongue flashing across their curve to soothe the inevitable bruising.
Without looking down he moved a piece with one hand and smoldered at Taas. "Check," he rasped, lips brushing Taas'.
