(Closed) Discovering things about the King

WHO: Iskandar and Waver
WHAT: Waver has been unaware of the fact that Iskandar has adopted a tiny kitten. Guess it's time for him to find out!
WHEN: Guardian 2
WHERE: The tent that Iskandar and Waver have started to share
NOTES: It's going to be cute and possibly stupid. Prepare yourselves.

Now, one should be aware that Iskandar had not been hiding his kitten from Waver. It had simply been the fact that the tiny creature was very shy around new people until he became familiar with the scent of that person. So of course the tiny thing had been hiding in the stables with Bucephalus or in Iskandar's large fur collars. When he wasn't there he was just hiding in the tent in general, taking advantage of the fact that the large King had made sure that it would be able to fit two full grown men and allow for things like sitting as well as sleeping. Perhaps it wasn't the lap of luxury but it was still nice enough for a start until the man could figure out a better housing situation.

No, he hadn't been keeping the kitten a secret at all. The topic simply hadn't come up.

On this day though, Waver would find that the kitten had become used to him and the kitten was chilly during Waver's nap in the tent. Since Iskandar was too far away (right outside the tent was just too far a way to walk for a sleepy baby), he decided he would take advantage of the familiar person nearby. So he wiggled his way out of the clothes he'd been hiding in and went over to the mage...

...and climbed up then curled on top of his face. With a yawn he went to try going back to sleep.

"Er, yes," Waver said. That was rather obvious. "That is also a factor to be considered and--"

Leave it to the man to change track of conversation in the middle of it. At least this thought was a practical one, and one that Waver had had on his mind as well.

"I've been trying to figure out who to contact about such a matter. Do you know someone?"

He knew everyone, after all.

"One of the advisors!"

He just had to figure out who they were. Shouldn't be too hard. He only hadn't yet because he wished to have a plan and location picked out before he went to present his idea. That way it would be much harder for them to say no to him!

"Names help," Waver said miserably. "Although knowing you, you can just ambush them and they'll be happy to agree with whatever plan you've got."

It was one of the best things about being Alexander, honestly. Waver often found himself jealous of such abilities back home, if he was being honest.

"Did you have any idea what you want the place to look like, or how many rooms?"

"Well certainly. They would have to agree if present them with a perfect plan."

Iskandar blinked at the questions then stroked his beard for a moment or so.

"I think that I would have to see what the need for beds would be first. It is possibly it would only be a temporary shelter for others. However, a more permanent thing would have to be rather large. Especially since I would wish my horse with me."

"Well, if it is supposed to be secret, then it needs to be minimal in presence."

Waver paused, tapping his chin with his forefinger, humming very thoughtfully. Function dictated purpose.

"Say you have one bedroom for yourself, plus two more with two beds each at least. How is that for a start?"

"Hmmm. It would not be a bad plan at all. Though would you want to have your own room or to continue to share with me?"

That was what would really influence how this place was built in his eyes. He wanted to include Waver no matter what and that meant making sure that he was thoroughly a part of this. They were not Master and Servant but this was still one of his sworn followers. He had a duty to take care of him.

"We could say that one room is nominally mine, but switch it out for guests when needed."

Truth be told, Waver was now too used to passing out next to Iskandar. But to not have his own room, a space to just be alone when needed, that would be it's own kind of madness. Besides, Waver had zero doubt that Iskandar would be entertaining guests in his own room. Space to let that happen while Waver could sleep sounded like a solid plan.

"You could always share my bed when there are guests. That way it is something you are still used to and you will still have a bed to sleep in."

Iskandar did far prefer sharing a bed anyway. It was why he slept comfortably here with Waver and why he liked to be in the beds of others. Really he was something of an oversized dog and just loved the companionship that came from being in another bed with another being.

"That'll do," Waver agreed. He shifted a little, then closed his eyes.

"Greek style, or something more appropriate to our surroundings?"

"Appropriate to our surroundings, of course! This is the culture of the land so we should do all we can to respect and and learn about it! It is one of the great wonders of coming to a new country and being part of it."

This was the man who had changed his name and attire to fit in with the fact that he'd conquered Persia. It only made sense that he would also turn to wearing the clothes of this land as well as want to build establishments like the ones here.

"It was worth double checking," Waver said with a shrug. He is personally relieved on the matter himself, as that means things will blend in far better than they might with a different outer appearance.

"When the snows start to melt, I'll start knocking about in the woods."

"Wonderful! You have a good eye for matters so perhaps you will see something that I may miss."

He fully remembered how clever Waver had been when it came to the waters and magic. A decade could only have made increased that intelligence as far as he was concerned. "So you like my idea then, hm?"

"I do," Waver said, his hand going back to pet the kitten. A yawn escaped Waver as well, as if the sleepiness was transferable.

"You seem surprised by that."

He chuckled and then shook his head. "No. I am simply pleased by it. Now you should rest. It seems you have a companion to keep you warm for a time since I am not ready for rest myself."

And the fact that his kitten was so comfortable with Waver pleased him since it would mean he'd come out in the open in the tent more.

"Yes, but you're a perpetual furnace, and it is cold."

Which was a round about way of asking for him to stick around until Waver fell asleep, but then again, when was Waver ever direct about things that could have emotion involved?

Oh that was how it was. Waver wanted to cuddle and was not wanting to admit to such. They still had a unique relationship, the pair of them, but he valued it highly as he chuckled softly before moving further into the tent. It would hardly hurt for him to rest awhile too.

Pulling off coat and shirt, he went to get under the covers with him and pulled Waver right up against him. "I'd best provide you that furnace then, shouldn't I."

Waver let out a little oof as he was dragged over, and he made certain that the kitten came along too. Once all were settled, Waver breathed out, and proceeded to close his eyes.

"I appreciate it."

"If ever you desire to be held you should say so, boy. I see no shame in such a thing when we have a bond as strong as ours."

They'd been through a lot together, here and back in their world. True it had been but a few days in Japan but that had not prevented them from growing close. Waver was now one of his as far as he was concerned and he felt a desire to see that he was well cared for as a result. That included his happiness.

"Sometimes you want to rely on that bond to lead to things that don't have to be said."

It was a bit of a romantic notion, but Waver couldn't say he cared much. It was honest.

"Boy! I was unaware that you were a romantic at heart! I had not expected this of you!"

The worst part was that he wasn't even teasing him. He genuinely felt this way about Waver.

"Wh--"

Waver shifted, so that Iskandar could get a good look at his absolutely bewildered face.

"How the hell did you get that?"

Deny, deny, deny.

"With your own words, of course. Poets might use such things themselves to describe the heart and how it shares a bond with another."

He laughed then gave him a pleased grin.

"You truly have grown if you now have a heart of romance."

Waver groaned, and muffled his face into the cat.

"Oh my God, stop putting words in my mouth."

The cat would probably swat at him for this. That was totally fine.

The kitten was small but he did not appreciate being moved so he would be a face cover. He batted at Waver's face several times in irritation. The good news was that he at least didn't use claws. Settling back down, he gave a huff which brought a chuckle from Iskandar who stroked him then looked back at the man he was holding.

"I wasn't. It is simply the phrasing. Is it so wrong to like that you have a romantic side to you now?"

Waver gave the cat an apologetic pat, and murmured a low sorry to it. Easier to focus on fluff than Iskandar, he simply fell quiet for a few moments before giving an answer.

"I didn't say that either. And I don't think what I was expressing was romantic. Just sentimental."
