In the turning of the seasons, in life and death

WHO: Church, Malcolm, Rachette, YOU
WHAT: Present timeline catch-all
WHEN: Guardian /wiggly hand
WHERE: Up down all around Skyhold
NOTES: Nab me on plurk if you want a specific starter

Church is starting to spend a lot more time in the tavern than he ever did before. Sometimes he's just hanging around, taking some notes. Sometimes he's cleaning up tables with a rag. Sometimes you can actually see him in the back doing what may or may not be actual work. Crazy! He's also spending quite a bit of time around the stables, trying really hard not to look intimidated by the steeds, learning to put on saddles, and you may even see him up on one. This is madness. This is Skyhold.

Rachette does a lot of training, whether it's with her blades, doing her best to cut up a dummy, or doing sick backflips off walls or generally trying to get her parkour on, or at a table with a bunch of scrap fiddling with traps. She's also fond of going out hunting. You can perhaps find her debating with a merchant about the price of turning a rabbit pelt into a pair of gloves or a nice hat. She sometimes hangs nearby classes without trying to look like she's actually sitting in. Learning but not like...being a nerd okay shut up who likes learning not her.

Malcolm hovers around the healer tents more than he ever usually does, either visiting those injured or getting injuries checked up on. He also seems to be making a point of starting to see if there's anything he can do to help despite not being a healer. His training has more to do with keeping the skills he does have sharp, whether through archery (where he has an interesting new bow that hasn't made an appearance yet), or working out, or sparring. He's willing to give advice to people that seek it. And as ever, there's always some point where he can be seen around the kennels or otherwise being with is poodle companion Milady, playing, training, being at least mildly adorable.

Take it from one person who had to learn how to swallow her pride once long ago - better to do it when young enough that it's not so bitter and terrible a thing, that it doesn't colour so many things in your life each time you must ask for it and weave yourself a careful web of truths and lies, information concealed until the opportune moment.

"Must one always desire something?" Morrigan you giant hypocrite. "I have no interest in the flesh or the pelt of what you might come across, I have a greater interest in the bones as it happens if that is agreeable?"
sistertohermen: (you could say that)

"The bones?" she repeats with a confused scrunch of her nose. Those can be used to forge items, or some armor, but she doesn't have a direct or desperate need for the bones right now. "Okay. Whatever I get, I can make sure I get you the bones later. What do you use them for?"

This woman is...strange, to be out here and to speak the way she does. It's even more formal than some of the nobility, but she doesn't seem like a noble. They only want to touch the bones of what they're eating.

"Aye, the bones." Those eerie gold eyes will just stare, and Morrigan will just offer that vaguely enigmatic smile with a tip of the head to listen for anything approaching though the wolves have moved further afield now more are venturing into the woods in search of game. "They have many uses; if wood is damp they are good for a fire, to be used as fastenings in clothes or pieces of jewellery. Though I have met someone who makes carvings of them and I had a wondering if he might make use of them if I am able to provide some."

If not then she has a few garments she's been stitching that could use them instead of paying for buttons or something else that she doesn't need to buy from the merchants so they won't go to waste. Chasind lifestyles such as hers are all about using everything that you.

"Before we go, I am Morrigan though I am certain most by now know of me at the very least. I would prefer to know who I am hunting with."

Those suggestions are all...very practical and thankfully not nearly as weird as she was afraid Lone Woman In The Middle Of The Winter Woods was going to suggest. Phew. "I bet if you design it right, you could look pretty terrifying with bone buttons and fastenings. And teeth for jewelry!" Man, why didn't she ever get taught shit like that in Dust Town?

And carvings. Those might not be as useful as bits of armor or, well, buttons, but one could fetch some coin for that. Sell off end products instead of haggling with merchants to give them the raw materials. Something to consider for the future.

The dwarf dusts herself off and finally slides her dagger back into place. She hopefully won't need it unless they come across some trapped creature that needs put down. "Rachette. I'm certain most by now have never heard of me, and I'm okay with that. Are you...with the Inquisition, or do you just happen to live around here?"

Terrifying is it? More than a few undoubtedly would say that she does that well enough as she is. Even clad in her dark gown and baring her face in Orlais caused such a stir, the spider amidst the butterflies. "Skyhold is lacking in some of the larger beasts that might be found prowling elsewhere in this world; I have seen those who wear the teeth of bears and wolves in their ears, the spines of snakes coiled about their throats."

Chasind make use of what is about them after all, so little is wasted. Morrigan much prefers her feathers if anyone were to ask.

"I have been with the Inquisition some time as arcane advisor, as I am to Empress Celene. My study is close to the gardens." A dwarf probably wouldn't know that, probably wouldn't care to same as Morrigan's involvement with their affairs has only extended as far as her own travels. Ducking beneath a low branch, she walks in silence before she speaks again, because that might mean less than what she is about to say. "I travelled with the Hero of Ferelden though I pay little heed to what they say of me."
