WHO: Cyril & Merrick + OPEN (Starters so far for Taas and Sam. If you want one let me know!)
WHAT: Cyril and Merrick have been searching for Metaari. After finding his bow with bandits, Cyril is finally able to convince Merrick to return. They arrive at Kirkwall fifteen minutes late with Starbucks. (not really, they just have one extra giant ass bow and crushed hopes)
WHEN: Shortly after everyone else arrived at Kirkwall
WHERE: You know, around.
NOTES: So "I'll just go on hiatus for a couple weeks to play Andromeda," I said. "I'm sure after I beat it once I'll be able to return to RP." Hahaha. Then I looked around and four weeks had passed and I hadn't done a single thing in RP, or cleaned my house, or gone to the store for food... ANYWAY so here's my return and I have a good excuse because Cyril would try help his brother find his missing lover. You can thread with either Merrick or Cyril here. Cyril had been keeping in touch with others in the Inquisition over the sending crystals, which turned out to be lucky because it meant that when they finally could return they didn't accidentally trek all the way back to Skyhold only to have to turn around and head north again.

They hadn't found any sign of Metaari, except for the bow that was unmistakable. That, they had recovered from bandits - bandits who claimed to have just "come across" it and who were all very, very dead now.

Cyril feels exhausted and thread bare from worry. Merrick isn't going to be okay with the fact that they still don't know for sure what happened and the giant bow Merrick's carrying around feels much more like a way to pry at the wound rather than closure.

"Probably good practice to do so. More so for those who didn't want to walk in on that. Perhaps we should think of a system of ties that is inclusive and exclusive?"

Cyril chuckles a bit. "I do agree with that. I would not mind at all warming your and Kirk's bed with both of you in it."

Sam snorts lightly at that; how did he know Cyril would say something along those lines. "I'm sure you wouldn't. I'm also sure Jim wouldn't mind the surprise." Whether or not it was today though they'd have to see. After all Cyril said he and Merrick still needed to find a place.

"At the time we have a room in the Gallows. We're hoping later on to get a place elsewhere. Less... Circle-ish."

Cyril presses his lips together at the thought, suddenly remembering how much weight this city must have for the mages in the Inquisition. "Are you... are you okay with being here?" he asks. "Is it... Does it bring back bad memories or anything?"

'I'll live' is what he originally plans on saying, but Sam stops, taking a deep breath and considering his answer. "Being here is... trying. There's a lot of bad blood here, bad history, but the Inquisition didn't bring us here out of ill intent... it's mandatory to stop whatever future we saw. That's enough for me to be willing to put up with it."

Sam gives pause then, turning just slightly to look at the Gallows, visible even from here. "So long as they stay as stone walls and nothing more... it'll be fine. The Circle is not my favorite place, and while the Gallows do bring up some memories, I was in Ostwick so I don't have any personal connection here. But if we do find better lodgings I'll probably be some of the first to move."

Cyril nods at that. "I'll help where I can," he promises.

Then, after a moment. "No one will ever lock you up again, Sam. I'll make sure of it." He speaks with such finality in his voice, as if he really does believe he could fight the whole Chantry to keep Sam free if needed.

Cyril's words have Sam giving his hand a squeeze and keeping the grip for a few moments. He didn't want to be locked up again and he appreciated that Cyril would stand with him on it, but at the same time he was concerned that if that time ever came... he didn't want his loved ones to get hurt.

"Going to whisk me away into the forest are you?" he asks with a huff, trying to be amusing even while feeling the pressure of the current subject.

"If it came to it, I would. We could even convince some of our friends to come along and have a nice, extended camping trip."

Sam snorts. "Well if you put it like that it sounds a lot more relaxing. I enjoy camping." He still enjoyed a good bed more, but he could certainly rough it if need be.

"And you've never done it with someone who was raised Dalish, the ultimate campers." He's really glad no Keepers are around to overhear him say such a thing.

That comment has Sam biting his tongue, not about to turn that into something dirty - even if Cyril does it all the time. "Technically I think I have... you know during that trip to where we helped relocate that one Dalish clan?" The one where that First wanted to marry you Cyril?

"Can't say we really got to enjoy it though. Could definitely do for a better experience."

You mean the one where Cyril was finally able to say the words 'I love you?' It's Cyril's turn to blush a little as he remembers it.

"I could show you some really good things to do out in the woods. It would be like our first time only better."

He can honestly say he's rather surprised to see Cyril blushing - outside of activities that got the blood pumping - but it's a pleasant and slightly amusing thing. Just because he's so used to being he one to be changing color.

"Oh, I don't know how you'd even manage to top that." He's joking, he has some idea.

It turns out feelings manage to do that to him, not sexual things. He's just very good at pretending that he doesn't have those.

"Oh, I bet I could. If you thought about it, I'm sure your imagination could come up with ways to top it too."

"... Well putting it like that I'm just picturing doing it in a tree." Maybe it was the word 'top' doing it. "That doesn't seem like it would be that comfortable though. Yes? No?" You do have a story for that, right, Cyril?

"What you mean you doubt I can be flexible to your imagination?" he teased gently.

"More like I cannot imagine bark being all that comfortable... and me probably falling out of said tree trying to keep up with your flexibility," he snorts lightly with amusement, lacing his fingers with Cyril's as they continued to their location.

Cyril squeezes his hand lightly. "We'll have to put cushions down to brace your fall."

"Sounds like baby-proofing a tree." Or would it be Sam-proofing? He wasn't as clumsy as he used to be, but that's all he can imagine right now, alright? Also, just falling out of a tree was one thing. Falling out of a tree in the middle of sex? Oof.

Cyril chuckles a bit. "Sadly, if we want to do that we'll have to find a woman somewhere who doesn't mind sharing." A pause. "Or adopt."

For a moment Sam doesn't follow what Cyril means by that, looking down curiously with a raised brow. Why did they need a woman to baby-proof a tree for se-

Oh.

The adoption comment makes it a bit more clear. "I wasn't suggesting anything like that... but it seems like your mind has been on that." He's teasing, but honestly curious to Cyril's thoughts on that.

Cyril nudges Sam a little playfully, showing he doesn't mean anything too serious about it. "Eventually, one day. The Dalish objective is to reproduce and strengthen the bloodline. That's why I even considered marriage at all."

He paused then, for a moment. "Though I am not certain that I am Dalish, not really."

Sam hums lightly at that, his mind wandering just a little now that Cyril brought it up. For the longest time, while in the Circle, he had longed for a family, one of his own perhaps, mostly fueled by words his father and aunt had said. Now that he was out his thoughts on the matter were different; he didn't need a family of the traditional sense.

"Hm?" he says absently, blinking as he refocused back to Cyril. "Why do you say that?" Not Dalish?

"I'm... outclan now." It's the first time he's really said it a loud. "I'm not really sure what that means for me."

"I'm sorry...?" He definitely sounds empathetic, knowing all too well how it feels to be outcast in some way, but also not sure if it was completely a bad thing. It was clear that certain aspects of being Dalish didn't agree with Cyril, but at the same time he knew that it was still a very big part of his lover's life.

"So you're 'not Dalish' just like that?"
