WHO: Iskandar and whoever joins him
WHAT: Iskandar has been matching Thedas months to Earth months and is guessing this is around a certain time of year. So he's hear to hold a memorial of sorts.
WHEN: Beginning of Justinian
WHERE: The docks

This wasn't the Okeanos of his dreams but he felt it would satisfy the time. That was to say he'd been figuring out how the months of this world might line up with those of his own world and had come up with the fact that his might be around Earth's June. The very same month historians had figured out he'd died at the age of thirty-two. Much had happened since that time but he felt that this was a day to honor something. Not him, of course, he had plenty of that already. No today was for those who had died living under his rule.

So he sat at the edge of the docks with a number of wine bottles around him. A couple were empty already to mark how much time had passed since he'd come out here. Around his neck was a small cat who had decided this was his favorite location to sleep even when Iskandar wasn't wearing his cloak. It was just nice to have a solid place to snooze apparently. Also there was a mabari pup next to him, sitting there as if trying to mimic the man in being calm. Not well though considering he kept wiggling about.

Iskandar chuckled and looked over his shoulder, having become aware that he wasn't alone. "Hello there. Would you care to join me? I am honoring the dead with a little memorial of sorts. You are welcome to think of your own lost ones if you like."

"I would jest to say that I learned long ago how to get a man into my bed but in truth that is just how I feel about you. The words will always mean more when they come from a place of honesty." Then again since he was a man of honesty to begin with one could be sure that was where they would always come from.

[samahl]

"That's something I don't doubt. You've always been straight forward with your emotions, at least you come off that way..."

[conqueredhearts]

"Come off that way? Do you think I keep something to myself?" It wasn't the first time someone had suggested that. Apparently it was just very surprising that someone wouldn't want to keep anything hidden away and would be open about...everything.

[samahl]

"Again, I point out the lack of knowledge that you were dead..." Again, he's teasing more than angry.

[conqueredhearts]

"Well I wasn't hiding that. It simply hadn't come up." He scratched his chin thoughtfully. "You can ask me anything at all and I will answer truthfully though. Anything."

[samahl]

Cyril is thoughtful about that, taking the offer seriously. "Do you remember anything after death?"

[conqueredhearts]

"I assume you mean before I was summoned." He shook his head though. "No. It is possible that those memories are being kept from me for the time being by the Grail though. To await me until I return to my rest."

[samahl]

"What do you know that you'll find when that happens?" Cyril asks carefully. He isn't sure this is something that Iskandar will actually want to talk about, no matter how open he was.

[conqueredhearts]

"I will find hundreds of smiling faces to await me in the afterlife. And there we will spend the rest of eternity in conquest together. I even think that I shall be united with my son for the first in my memories. Even if that is not what I shall find in that space then I do not mind for I have left such a mark on the world that I will never be forgotten."

[samahl]

"Your son?" Cyril asked. "What was his name?"

"Alexander. He was named after myself." Someone was so proud.

[samahl]

"Alexander? How many names do you have then?"

[conqueredhearts]

"Just one. My name is Alexander but the Persian version of that name is Iskandar." So it was literally the same name.

[samahl]

"And you prefer to go by the Persian version here?" He pronounces the word 'Persian' like it's the first time he's heard it - since it is. "Should we be calling you Alexander then?"

[conqueredhearts]

"I will respond to either name for both are accurate. Iskandar is the name I took when I became the King of Persia for I felt that I should become part of their culture to respect it rather than change it to what I grew up with." He didn't mind the poor pronunciation. It was probably an odd word for him. "They are both me in the end."

[samahl]

"I'll have to switch it up then, just to be interesting."

[conqueredhearts]

The man threw his head back for a nice hearty laugh. "Is that so? Well that sounds like fun! I will enjoy this very much."

[samahl]

Cyril grins, enjoying the way that it feels to have Iskander's whole body move with the laugh. "I do want to make sure you enjoy yourself, Alexander."

[conqueredhearts]

"I don't hear that name often so it pleases me to hear it again." He laughed again then kissed his hair. "Though I can say that I always enjoy my times with you. Even if we just sit here talking as we are now."

[samahl]

"Well good, because I find it very easy and comforting to be near you, even if we're just sitting and talking."

[conqueredhearts]

"I'd say that is a good sign." He gave him a wink that was playful. But the moment was soon interrupted by his mabari coming over to nose at Cyril. A laugh slipped out of Iskandar again as a result. "I think he wants you to pay attention to him too."

[samahl]

Cyril chuckled softly. "Mabari are supposed to be hyper intelligent aren't they? Clearly, he has good taste in people."

[conqueredhearts]

"How could he not? You are glorious." He cupped the side of Cyril's head so he could lean down and pull him in to kiss his hair. "Anyone who disagrees with that is blind, deaf, and stupid."

[samahl]

Cyril chuckles softly. "You beat me to it. I was going to say the same thing and show off my impressive ego."

[conqueredhearts]

"Ah but I already know how impressive your ego is. It is one of the first things that drew me to you, after all."

He grinned at him then winked. A laugh followed soon after and he downed the rest of his bottle with a sigh. He did so love that warm feeling of wine sitting in his stomach. "It's not often one can compete with my own ego, after all."
