Thankfully he was bequeathed quite a bit of leather to run these experiments, because there was a lot he wanted to test. He didn't want to run each subsequent test on a previously used leather either - that would skew results, and he needed these as precise and clean and controlled as possible. Not the lab settings he would hope for, but make due with what you got.
Now all he needed were his assistants.

OHGREN
I totally knew this was here shush
"So what are you using to smack these things around?"
seems in character for him anyways, lol
"Whatever weapon you prefer," he shrugged. "I haven't done an axe or hammer yet, if you're willing."

He motioned to the stands. "Over there. I need you to swing once and let me record how deep the strike goes through each leather, and then I'll have you hit them until they break."

Going over to the leather, he gave it a once over. Hefting his axe up, he gave a mighty cry, putting that Berserker rage into it for a fierce strike that would cause many to tremble. Drunk though he was, he was also a warrior through and through. Intoxication wasn't about to stop him from enjoying a good fight like this. No, that would be such a waste in his opinion.
Leather probably wasn't the best thing against a Berserker's axe but this guy would tell him the results of that soon enough.

No, it probably wasn't, but Kirk figured it was better to have the data than to make assumptions. Who knows - maybe some held up better than one might think, like the dragons, but he couldn't be sure. He stayed well back as he let Oghren take his swings, waving the wine bottle when he had finished.
"All right, take a break while I take my measurements," he called. "Not to much, I might need you to take a few more swings."

"What do you think?"
