[You know, it's been a hot minute since Avery has really been able to just stop, take a breath, and make some food she likes without having some other big responsibility looming over her, and... it was actually kind of nice. The dish, simple shrimp and vegetable mix that it may be, also turns out quite delicious, so that's another plus!

But once the actual cooking is done and Avery is at the party, she remembers that she is an awkward mess and terrible at socializing. If anyone cares to find her for whatever reason, she'll be off at the edge of things somewhere with a drink, wondering if she should go find some work that needs doing. It wouldn't be hard, and at least then she'd have something to do with her hands right now.]

[From somewhere - Araceli is a little here, there, everywhere, flitting around and trying not to trip over the fox that's just wandering around with his mouth open and head up waiting for food to fall right into his waiting face - she beams.

Are you ready to be pounced because you're probably about to be pounced.]

[Do they ever let you out of the kitchens to go to parties Avery? Clearly Araceli will have to make sure you have reason to go to far more because that's the only way to get comfortable at them.]

When I got back to Kirkwall to prepare things after being at the waters [because tradition is tradition, glossing over the birthday aspect that's the boring bit to basically everyone here] I was worried no one would show up. Have you tried new and exciting things yet? I made the thing Cosima suggested, the peel and eat shrimp. They're very easy, just as she promised.

[Totally worth the level of experimenting to get them right.]

[But work is so much simpler than social interaction!]

I've tried a few, though doubtful none so "new and exciting" as the things Cosima comes up with.

[Clearly she needs to invite you to her place for cooking and hanging out.]

Most of my foods seem a bit Antivan or Rivaini or if you had them collide at speed. Although there's a lack of sharks here to make shark fin soup possible, everyone should try that at least once, it's delicious. Or squid ink pasta! There's nothing like squid ink pasta but that requires a lot of work.

[No one is going to be ready for the mysteries of the blooming onions when they finally make their debut, are they?]
