As active as this man could be, he also loved to just settle down to do quiet things. Reading happened to be one of them and he munched on a piece of fruit while he did. The picture of concentration as he flipped pages while he moved through the story.

It was when he got to the end that he suddenly sat up with a grin and looked over at the mage that he shared this space with.

"Boy! Have you read this book yet? These tales of grand heroes of this world?"

He couldn't say why he was in the mood to see this one lover of his specifically but there he was looking around for him. It took him a few hours considering it was a city but when he did find him a grin spread across his face. Waving for his mabari to wait for him, he went invisible and moved up behind him slowly. When he got right up behind him, he leaned down to lightly blow on his ear then whisper...

"Hello, my sweet elf."

He'd materialize again shortly. Right now he just wanted to see the look of surprise over hearing his voice but not seeing him.

The last time he'd seen this man the conversation had been sad. So he decided to find him for a more cheerful time together. Still over alcohol but there was nothing that said drinks always had to be had during mournful hours. There was always something out there to celebrate if one really knew how to look for it.

Locating him, he held up the bottle of wine that he had with a giant grin on his face. "My friend! Have you time for a drink? I recently acquired this and decided you were the man I wished to share it with!"

Iskandar hummed softly to himself as he jotted down some notes about something as he sat on some steps. No one bothered him given his size and the nearby mabari was also a deterrent. Not that he seemed particularly scary beyond his size given the fact that he was smiling and really had quite the pleasant singing voice based on the music he was doing already.

Stopping to stroke his chin, he looked up to see a familiar face. It had been quite some time since he'd seen her but he waved to her all the same. "Hello there! It's been awhile, my friend! Come, sit with me for a time. Let us talk!"

A walk when one had a mabari could become a rather fascinating experience. Usually it just meant some new discoveries as he watched his dog explore but today it meant Achilles Alexander noticing something and wanting so badly to run to it. Curious, he looked around for what he could smell or see. It took time but he burst out laughing when he saw what the cause was.

"Go on. Go on."

A bark of joy and the pup was running towards the Garahel with Iskandar following after to wave at Inessa. "I hope you two are not busy. He seemed very eager to see his friend."

Honestly he'd come here to look for Anders though he wasn't sure why anymore. It wasn't any problem though, more that he'd ended up in a room off to the side of the healing rooms and had discovered dragon bones. Well, he assumed that's what they were. He'd yet to see a dragon beyond the bones in the Deep Roads. One day he hoped to see one in person but until then...

Lightly he touched one in awe, a smile on his face as if he could just sense the strength in these. The power this creature must have! Iskandar could only imagine what it would be like to interact with such a beast. To battle it.

"Magnificent."

Yes. He'd come here to see Anders but Anders was more likely to find him instead at this rate.

Though he'd had a fight with Jim and they were slowly rebuilding things, he'd still been going strong with Sam. The man had even been learning things about him slowly but surely. Iskandar loved him dearly and decided to surprise him with a present. The smell would say it was bread and fish of some kind but he kept the cloth over the dish all the same.

"Sam! I have brought you a treat!"

He looked so proud of himself as he set the plate down on a table of Sam's home then finally uncovered it to reveal small meat pies. Meat pies filled with delicious fish based on that smell.

It bothered Sam that something had happened between his two lovers - 'a fight' was all he ever got as an explanation - but since there wasn't any hostility he didn't think it was his place to intervene. Sure it made the three of them getting together a bit awkward at times, but the two of them were grown adults and could/would clearly work through it.

Regardless, Sam enjoyed when Iskandar came over, and this time apparently with a surprise. Clearly it was something with food since the man had said 'treat', not to mention that could smell it - and not like a covered dish was a tip off either.

The fact that he was being surprised brought a grin to Sam's face, but seeing what they actually were, well there was an extra surprisingly pleased look there as well. "What's the occasion?" Possibly nothing in particular, but he still asks as he breaks one open to see what kind of fish they were filled with.

Ellana smiles and takes a seat beside him, reaching out to let the mabari sniff her hand.

"It has been awhile hasn't it? What's new with you?"

James looked up from where he was reading a variety of notes - getting prices on his Dragon Bone Armor was more time consuming than he realized - and gave Iskandar a bemused smile. "If that is a decent vintage, I shall make the time. As it is, I am simply working on some personal matters, so even a half-decent vintage will do."

He looked around his small office. Without Cade to act as his secretary, he had to organize himself more thoroughly. "Mugs should be on that top shelf there - let me get the desk cleaned off."

He didn't want to slosh wine on anything important, after all.

Waver was half asleep, sprawled out on a comfortable pile of pillows and blankets when Iskandar's voice sounded. Groaning, he picked his head up (no cat trying to sleep there for once), and looked over at Iskandar with bleary eyes.

Damnit, this was why he was being woken up?

"No, I haven't," he said with a yawn. "Why?"

Cyril was packing up his stall when Iskandar saw him. When he heard Iskandar he smiled and then turned to look at him, but was surprised, instead, to see nothing. His eyes widened a bit and he looked around.

"You know, for a man so large it should be impossible to hide you," he said, with confidence he didn't fully feel. He was half concerned he had imagined the words. Then Iskandar reappeared and reassured him it hadn't been a hallucination.

Yes. This was exactly why he was being woken up. Iskandar's antics would not be stopped by the mere act of sleeping.

"They are fascinating! Much can be learned just by reading about the people so greatly admired here!"

Already he was flipping through pages again like he was going to find one to show the man.

He laughed as he materialized. That look had been just what he was hoping for. "It should be were I not one who can turn invisible for a period of time."

Reaching out, he pulled him in for a quick kiss. Which meant basically having to pick him up so that way Cyril would be able to reach his lips but he knew his Elven lover enjoyed that show of muscle. "Are you free? I wish to spend time with you."

"Well the last bottle I had was quite delicious. It could probably taste better still warm and with spices but it is fine on its own too." He looked over at the shelf then went to fetch the mugs before sitting down to pour them each some of it. Well, after there was space so he wasn't putting it on papers.

"So what is it you were doing there? That is a great deal of paper for whatever it was."

"Oh quite a lot! It has been so long since we last spoke! Why, the last time we spoke we were still at Skyhold!"

He laughed and the mabari stood so he could sniff at her hand then give her a lick before sitting there looking expectant. Obviously she was supposed to pet him now.

"I saw them and recalled times when we ate together. You always seem to gravitate towards fish and pastry so when I saw that they were combined I knew you would love them!"

The fish was beautifully cooked with there still some lovely flaky pieces inside among the sauce that had been used to make sure the pastries weren't too dry to eat. Iskandar picked up one himself and sat down to pat his knee so Sam could sit there if he liked. True the man was bitter than most but for him the mage was still small indeed. Then again, most were when next to the King.

"Besides, I know things have been difficult for you while Jim mends things with me. So I wished to make it up to you."

Ever open and honest about everything. That was Iskandar.

"I ... am trying to find someone who can design and build me a set of dragon bone armor." James stated, as he finished putting the papers in neat piles. "For not something close to a king's ransom in gold, no less."

He offered Iskandar a seat opposite him, as he sat behind the desk once more. "What are we drinking to?"

Garahel launches himself at Achilles Alexander with all due enthusiasm, tail wagging excitedly as he licks his young friend with gusto. Inessa chuckles, watching them both before turning a bright smile to Iskandar.

"Not at all! Besides, it gives me the opportunity to congratulate you in person. I heard you message about taking over the Forces division. It couldn't have fallen into better hands."

"That's true." Her eyes leave the mabari for a moment, but when she looks back, she smiles and starts petting. "I guess our duties and other things have kept us busy. I've traveled a lot, in the hopes of uncovering more elven ruins, but they're not always easy to find and I've been in a dry spell lately. So I've been sticking around here, hoping I can improve some skills. What about you?"

Waver groaned. Damnit, he loved Iskandar but the man was sometimes absolute shit at reading a room. He rolled over and closed his eyes again, hoping that Iskandar would catch the goddamn hint.

"I'm sure. S'a big book, why not wait till you've read all of it to show me?"

Shortly after obtaining the position of Head of Forces, Iskandar had started looking into the various things his division was doing and had done. He also looked into who could be best suited to helping him. It had been easy for him to ask James. The man was well suited to the task and he felt he deserved the chance to have an active part in truly bettering this world through the Inquisition as well as finding a way to see things through the eyes beyond those of a Templar.

It was the second adviser he pondered about. He wanted someone skilled in tactics like himself. Someone used to battles and maybe even leading them. It would be good to have that as a third opinion during meetings for this division. While he would ultimately make the calls himself, he knew the advantages that came from having other ideas involved.

So he looked through the personnel he had and came across a familiar name. Loghain. He'd been reading up on battles here in these lands and the man was well known for his tactics. They'd served the soldiers well and there were many who would still listen to him as a result. It was true that Thedas had a reason to hate him for one action he'd done but Iskandar knew that this was the man he wanted.

And so he called him to his new office and left the door open to invite him in. Which meant Loghain would get a full view of a towering man with flaming hair and bulging muscles casually flipping through a book. While sitting on the floor surrounded by other papers and maps and so on. His mabari was nearby, looking up when Loghain's footsteps were heard.

The new Head of the Forces Division within Kirkwall is... large. That is Loghain's prevailing thought as he steps over the threshold to Iskander's office, responding to the summons delivered to him by an especially winded page. Loghain had responded promptly, not bothering to detour by his quarters to wash up after an afternoon spent on the training grounds.

He clears his throat. "Senior Warden Loghain Mac Tir. You asked to see me, ser."

Iskander's mabari catches Loghain's eye, his gaze warming. he loves dogs ok.

"Loghain! Splendid!"

The man laughed as he rose to his feet. Snapping the book closed, he set it on the desk before going over to clap a hand on the Warden's shoulder as if they'd been friends for ages. Certainly not a typical action to give to a stranger but Iskandar was not a typical person.

"Come and sit with me. I'll pour us some wine."

He caught the warm look at his dog and chuckled. "Achilles Alexander, come meet our new friend. He likes you."

The mabari didn't need to be told twice. It was clear he was still a pup despite his size as he bounded over and sat down to plop his head right against the man's let as if to say 'love me pleaaaaaaase!'

"My thanks! I am looking forward to doing good work with it. I was not expecting the position given the fact that I am a Rifter but I shall still take this role on with pride."

He laughed as he watched the dogs bounce and even start to play wrestle. It probably looked terrible to those unfamiliar with dogs but Iskandar knew the rough housing was just play. Nothing to be worried about.

"Have you anything new with you?"
