We Were Born To Make History

WHO: Adasse Agassi, Teren The Scary Mom Warden, and You.
WHAT: Entering Stage Darktown, A Thief
WHEN: Last week of Kingsway
WHERE: The Gallows
NOTES: The fight between Teren and Adasse has already been scripted, but feel free to have your character have 'been there'. There will be an open under that.

Teren and the No Good Very Bad Assassin - (The Letter Thief) - Closed

Getting on the wrong side of one of Kirkwall's many gangs was not something that Adasse had a habit of getting into - but he'd been distracted with the disappearance of Haelan and the worry that his best friend had finally hit the wrong side of a fellow but way older pocket by the name of Prickles. To that end, his head wasn't in the game when he took the job for the Dockside Harlots (seriously, what was up with these names? They just kept getting worse every year) - and so he dropped the parcel when on the run from the Kirkwall guard.

The Harlots were not exactly the forgiving types, and Adasse had to promise to take on a high-risk job. The Harlots wanted in on some Inquisition shipments that were going across the water to the Gallows, and so they needed to know the schedule for the next big shipment. Adasse was tasked to grabbing correspondence from an important Inquisition 'nob', because no-one really knew how the Inquisition managed to talk to one another over such long distances unless they had the fastest crows in the business.

So there he was, having snuck over with the rest of a smaller crew bringing over supplies, picking up a bale of something as he scanned the Gallows courtyard. He spotted an older woman, stern face and grey in her hair, holding onto a tight bundle with some sort of important seal on it, and he shifted his direction to run directly into her, and snag a few of the letters, muttering apologies all the way, "So sorry, serrah, so sorry, please pardon me..."

Typical down-trodden city elf, pay him no mind while he slips away with the letters in his shirt.

Or, at least, that was how it was supposed to go.

The Letter Thief - Scouting For Trouble (get it?) - Open

Well, here he was.

Adasse dropped his sack down on the stone of the Gallows, looking around the area with his mouth pressing in a fine line. Here he was. Inquisition promised, scout for ... whatever this thing was. Political movement? Army? Religious Cult? Did they even know?

He sighed, and that caused a chittering inside of his shirt, where an oddly shaped lump rested. He grinned, peering inside of his shirt itself to the chocolate nug nestled inside. "Yeah, yeah, I know. Could be worse. We could be having the Harlots remove all our favorite bits. Still ..."

Another sigh. "Wish we knew what we were getting into. C'mon, let's go find a corner to crash in, some trouble to find." Picking up his sack again, he started moving across the Gallows. Old habits die hard though, and he was already practicing bumping into people with a cheeky smile and a "So Sorry."

Nothing was grabbed. Yet. But it wouldn't do to lose the edge, now would it?

Well, how can she refuse that adorableness? It's impossible. So she'll take hold of Coco gently, holding him in the crook of her arm and stroking his back. What a sweetie. Garahel doesn't seem to mind her diverted attention, though he still stares up curiously at the creature, lifting his head up to sniff.

Inessa chuckles, not disbelieving that. "Don't forget to give your companion some credit; I'm certain he's made some friends for you. Skyhold's spymaster would have taken a shine to him, I'm certain. She's rather fond of nugs, and has several of her own, though did not join us in Kirkwall."

Aww, Adasse. You are Garahel's new favorite person. He squirms delightedly, ever-so-helpful in ensuring that he leaves no spot unrubbed. The chittering purr melts Inessa's heart, of course, and she gives him as much gentle affection as he'll allow.

"They have some...interesting names. Nugistair, Morrinug, among others." She shakes her head and smirks. "If the timing didn't line up, I would suspect Maja to haven followed her example when naming my order's griffons. My noble mount is named...Potato. And will not reply to anything else, Maker knows I've tried."

Yayyy, belly rubs! Garahel rumbles happily, and Adasse will get doggy kisses if he gets close enough to the mabari's tongue. Or afterward, too.

Inessa nods, rather smug about the griffons. "Indeed, so we all thought. But magic preserved a clutch through the ages, and they hatched. The griffons are now large enough to bear riders...at their own discretion, of course." No one ever makes a griffon do something they don't want to do, of course. And that smile provokes a wry one of her own. "'Potato' is fairly lucky, considering some of her comrades go by Flea, Burp, Butterball...."

"Even Warden Garahel wasn't immune; his griffon's name was Crookytail. Thunder was a perfectly serviceable name. Why he chose that instead, I'll never understand." But he did save everyone from the Fourth Blight, so her judgment isn't truly harsh. For that, he can have whatever name he wants for a mount, however undignified.

"If you need to seek us in particular, my office is located on the third floor of the central tower. I'm the project leader for the Rifts and the Veil." She boops Coco gently, cuddling him.

"If you bring your companion, I'll be sure to keep the office stocked in deep mushrooms. Would you like that, Coco?" She boops his nose. "I'm already feeding local mabari that visit, not just my own; why not add nugs to the list?"

Aw, Coco. If Inessa had a less darkspawn-filled life, she'd consider getting a nug companion for Garahel.

"Oh, yes. Aside from the one I just mentioned, I'm also involved in the Red Lyrium project, which involves studying the substance so we may best learn how to destroy it. Other projects involve having a naval presence in Thedas, establishing Chantry relations, relations with the northern powers, and so on. For those who are less inclined to travel, the base operations project ensures that the Gallows runs smoothly."

Inessa chuckles, shaking her head. She's not offended. "You aren't required to join any project, Adasse. The most they'll expect is a commitment to a division; Forces, Scouting, Research and Diplomacy. There are a wide range of activities and assignments for each. Somehow, I doubt you'll find time to be bored."

She's quick to smile at that, fairly confident that his thievery can be put to good use for the Inquisition. "I've only met Beleth but recently, though she seems dedicated serving the Inquisition in her new role. Given time and a good record, I suspect you'll find favor with her."

She glances down at Garahel as he barks happily. "See, Garahel has faith in you."
