[Closed] The Road to Jader ...

WHO: Bethany Darton, Aleron Darton, Carver Hawke, Fenris, Alistair, and Inessa Serra
WHAT: Looking for the Champion, high and low
WHEN: Mid-Harvestmere
WHERE: The fine Orlesian city of Jader, and small town just outside of Jader.
NOTES: Warnings for ...well. The DA2 Crew. You know how these guys are.

For weeks, Bethany Darton had been searching for some hint of her older sister's whereabouts since she had heard about the demise of the Hero of Fereldan. Her determination only mounting when Carver returned home with Dog, she remembered one of Marian's last letters, sent from a trader in Jader. She rounded up some people who were actually willing to track down Marian again, and as soon as she had returned from the Island of Red Lyrium, she gathered them all up and headed down to the docks as quickly as she could manage it, to Jader itself.

"Could there have been some remaining business she had to deal with in Lothering? Or... is there anywhere else she might have gone?" Fenris frowns, thinking over what they've found, from the timing of Marian's last visit here, to what she'd said. He's getting the same feeling from this as the Hawkes seem to be. "But even then... she would have found some way to contact you, even secretly, if she were able. That she hasn't..."

It definitely doesn't bode well. She may have been captured on her way somewhere. Or she may just be in some other precarious position where she just can't afford to make contact with anyone right now. Either way doesn't sound so good.

Wordlessly, Aleron stands behind Bethany and places his hands on her arms in a show of presence and support. He offers nothing for a long time, though he is certainly weighing and considering what they know. And what they do not know. The others have the right of it. The silence is the troubling information. And he knows just how much it's been hurting his wife to have no word whatsoever for so long.

"I agree. Kirkwall is unlikely. Were that where she intended to go, we'd have uncovered some sign she'd taken ship in Jader to cross the Waking Sea. That she was willing to tell a stranger that she intended to return home indicates she did not find herself at risk when she departed." Not going to spell out his thoughts on the silence. It's easy enough to draw conclusions and he'd just as soon not pain Bethany any more than she already is. "Lothering as her destination then begs the question which route she would take round Lake Calenhad, or if she sailed across instead."

Of course, travel underground is not entirely off the table, passing through Orzammar. But he cannot fathom choosing to enter the Deep Roads for mere travel arrangements. Though, there are exit and entry points in the Free Marches. A sick feeling settles into the pit of his stomach that she attempted that to reach Kirkwall undetected and not sailed.

"...unless she opted to travel below ground." Sweet Andraste, please don't make him spell out why that would be a marvelously terrible route to take to the woman's loving sister.
