WHO: Carlos and OPEN
WHAT: Carlos arrives at Kirkwall
WHEN: Throughout the Day
WHERE: Around the Inquisition's headquarters in Kirkwall
NOTES: None yet.

I. Fresh Off The Boat

When Carlos arrived and finally settled away from the ship, he had to brace himself up against the nearest solid structure. He needed that moment to get his land legs back. He had managed to not throw up once during the trip, but that didn't mean he hadn't felt sick nearly the entire time. Now that he was back on solid ground he felt wobbly and it took him a moment to regain his composure.

Still, he had arrived. He had made it! While the statues and gates had terrified countless mages before him, he felt relieved to be here. It had been a long trip. Not just the ship ride over, but everything that had happened to him since the Rebellion had started. He felt as if all of it had moved him towards this place where so many had died and suffered but which managed to hold all of the promise of his future.

Once he had soothed his stomach and could stand without swaying, he grabbed his staff, straightened his robes, and walked into the Gallows. He had someone he wanted to find but first he needed to report to the Inquisition's headquarters here.

II. Settling In

The person he had been seeking had been found, had directed him to a good meal, and had made sure he had a space to sleep and spend his time. Now he needed to settle in.

He was used to not having very many belongings. His mother had never given him anything that was truly his and the Circle had been more about shared spaces and items. As he unpacked he only has a few healing supplies and books really, but he still took the time to arrange them in his space in an organized way.

He liked the fact that he has a bed assigned to him. Having a bed of his own was still a luxury, even if it was in a space he shared with the other members of the Inquisition. He hoped his neighbors were nice, at least. It was always good to like the people who would be around when you were sleeping.

III. Medic Tents

Carlos knew eventually he would be assigned a role and have to stick with it, but after settling in and meeting a few people he really wanted to check out the medic tents. He was curious about how things are set up here and he wanted to offer help where he could. Healing was something he was good at, even if he still had a lot to learn.

He didn't want to intrude on patients though, so for a moment he sort of lingered outside and looked at the entrance with a curious and hopeful expression.

It doesn't pass Christine's notice that there's someone waiting outside the tents, and she quickly finishes up with her patient who is left to rest before she approaches the young man.

"Yes?" she asks, not one to mince words. "Are you injured?"

Whatever faults he might see with his introduction, Christine either doesn't notice or doesn't make him aware of it. Instead she smiles warmly, never one to turn away help.

"The healers are under the Forces Division, for reference, but any who offer their services are welcome here and do not need to ask. We have no healer or surgeon hierarchy. We all have the same goal of making people well again." She gestures for him to follow her towards one of their supply tents so he can be shown what they have available.

"My name is Christine. And you?"

After another busy day at her office, Inessa just wants to settle back in the quarters she shares with Ciri and have a cup of tea. Perhaps she'll even get to read something that doesn't have 'Veil' or 'rift' in it. Garahel, however, seems to have other ideas. Easily distracted and eager to make friends, he pauses by an open door and stares at her before padding in to greet whoever caught his scent. No one minds a big war dog suddenly up in their business, right?

He was in the middle of seeing a patient when Fortitude alerted him of a familiar presence. Humming to himself - to the spirit rather but the woman didn't know that - Sam finished administrating the bandages before sending her on her way. Emerging a few moments later from his tent, Sam gave a smile at who had actually showed up.

"Carlos," he calls, only loud enough to catch attention.

"That is thoughtful of you. If only everyone was such." Meaning quite a few people have had no qualms about strutting in while people are trying to rest and recover.

"Here is where we keep the supplies. I take it you do healing magic? I am sure you know some patients refuse it, and so I thought I would show you the bandages, poultices, and the rest too."

"Full-fledged," he replies with a grin. Last he saw Carlos he was still technically learning and had yet earned his spirit; now he was going over a year with Fortitude.

"Are you here because you're still going with healing magic... or is there something wrong?"

The mabari pants happily, tilting his head into that scratching. People who shower him with affection without being asked are his favorite sort of people. Watching from the doorway, Inessa shakes her head and smiles.

"His name is Garahel, and he certainly can be. Though I warn you, give in and he'll happily pester whenever he sees you." The mabari tries to look innocent and gives a whine. He's not a pest, is he?

"Very good. You will be of great help to us here; I just know it." Now that he's seen where to go when he needs supplies, she leads him back out.

"I do not think you are a Spirit Healer. At least, I do not sense a spirit near you." Because her spirit lets her know these sorts of things. "Have you been a healer very long?"

Honestly, Carlos shouldn't be too concerned. Even without the fighting, being a spirit healer took a lot of time to fully master; hell Sam and Christine had gotten their spirits only a couple years ago and Carlos was still young.

"Thank you." Hearing about Carlos already picking a division, Sam places his arms on his hips. "Research huh?" That was run by Thranduil - he remembers the ruckus Valentine had made about it too - and he knew Christine was doing much the same - he has to consider introducing them if they haven't met yet. "You can certainly do that. So what do you want to do in research?"

"I certainly get it; research is just not my thing. Always been more aligned with the physical stuff." He could certainly do his part when it came to research, but he was always better at the practical part of things, less of the theoretical.

"Ah-huh." Probably hard not to remember that. Sam was always more for practicing magic then trying to read up on it. "You should talk to Christine when you get the chance. She's also a spirit healer in the research department; leading one of the projects."

Inessa smiles, certain she doesn't cut an intimidating figure upon inspection. Garahel barks happily at the news, running around excitedly in a little circle; he always wants new friends. As Carlos offers his hand, she shakes it.

"A pleasure to meet you, Carlos. I am Inessa, also known as Warden Serra. Currently, I'm the leader of the Rifts and the Veil project. Garahel is our unofficial mascot, I suppose."

Christine nods her head, but doesn't have the chance to explain as he keeps going on. She listens, nodding along all the same until he's finished.

"Ah, Ostwick Circle. The one where mages were treated well." It's said with a knowing look but little bitterness. There's no room for that anymore. From her accent, it might seem that the Orlesian mage was well taken care of in her Circle, and she was certainly fed and looked after. But the Orlesian Circles had both Templars and enchanters who played mind games and damaged their charges psychologically all in their quest to get ahead in the Grand Game. Sam's Circle had James and his Templars who treated him like a brother. Very different Circles; very different worlds. Grand Enchanter Fiona of Montsimmard wouldn't have led the rebellion if everything was fair and perfect in her Circle.

"I am a Spirit Healer, yes. And I am very close to Sam, so I am also grateful he made it to the Inquisition unscathed. He is important to me."
