WHO: Carlos and OPEN
WHAT: Carlos arrives at Kirkwall
WHEN: Throughout the Day
WHERE: Around the Inquisition's headquarters in Kirkwall
NOTES: None yet.

I. Fresh Off The Boat

When Carlos arrived and finally settled away from the ship, he had to brace himself up against the nearest solid structure. He needed that moment to get his land legs back. He had managed to not throw up once during the trip, but that didn't mean he hadn't felt sick nearly the entire time. Now that he was back on solid ground he felt wobbly and it took him a moment to regain his composure.

Still, he had arrived. He had made it! While the statues and gates had terrified countless mages before him, he felt relieved to be here. It had been a long trip. Not just the ship ride over, but everything that had happened to him since the Rebellion had started. He felt as if all of it had moved him towards this place where so many had died and suffered but which managed to hold all of the promise of his future.

Once he had soothed his stomach and could stand without swaying, he grabbed his staff, straightened his robes, and walked into the Gallows. He had someone he wanted to find but first he needed to report to the Inquisition's headquarters here.

II. Settling In

The person he had been seeking had been found, had directed him to a good meal, and had made sure he had a space to sleep and spend his time. Now he needed to settle in.

He was used to not having very many belongings. His mother had never given him anything that was truly his and the Circle had been more about shared spaces and items. As he unpacked he only has a few healing supplies and books really, but he still took the time to arrange them in his space in an organized way.

He liked the fact that he has a bed assigned to him. Having a bed of his own was still a luxury, even if it was in a space he shared with the other members of the Inquisition. He hoped his neighbors were nice, at least. It was always good to like the people who would be around when you were sleeping.

III. Medic Tents

Carlos knew eventually he would be assigned a role and have to stick with it, but after settling in and meeting a few people he really wanted to check out the medic tents. He was curious about how things are set up here and he wanted to offer help where he could. Healing was something he was good at, even if he still had a lot to learn.

He didn't want to intrude on patients though, so for a moment he sort of lingered outside and looked at the entrance with a curious and hopeful expression.

"Full-fledged," he replies with a grin. Last he saw Carlos he was still technically learning and had yet earned his spirit; now he was going over a year with Fortitude.

"Are you here because you're still going with healing magic... or is there something wrong?"

Honestly, Carlos shouldn't be too concerned. Even without the fighting, being a spirit healer took a lot of time to fully master; hell Sam and Christine had gotten their spirits only a couple years ago and Carlos was still young.

"Thank you." Hearing about Carlos already picking a division, Sam places his arms on his hips. "Research huh?" That was run by Thranduil - he remembers the ruckus Valentine had made about it too - and he knew Christine was doing much the same - he has to consider introducing them if they haven't met yet. "You can certainly do that. So what do you want to do in research?"

"I certainly get it; research is just not my thing. Always been more aligned with the physical stuff." He could certainly do his part when it came to research, but he was always better at the practical part of things, less of the theoretical.

"Ah-huh." Probably hard not to remember that. Sam was always more for practicing magic then trying to read up on it. "You should talk to Christine when you get the chance. She's also a spirit healer in the research department; leading one of the projects."

"Hm. At some point. She's been here a bit more sporadically because of the project, but she does see to patients. We're often on different schedules or sites as of late, but you'll meet her. If not you can always contact her to setup something I'm sure."

He thinks about that for a moment before shaking his head. "So how far has your magic come along?"

Sam's thoughtful when he hears that, rubbing at his chin. "Any good at it in a fight?" Look he has to find that out since a lot of expected of spirit healer, especially during a war.

"That's good. Things get crazy out there as you know. Especially when the fight gets right in your face."

"Over?" he asks, taking a moment to think on that. "You mean the Rebellion?" If he means fighting, boy is Carlos in for a ride.

"Hm-mm..." That is all Sam has in response about the Mage-Templar war. The war might be at an end, but it didn't mean the fighting wouldn't pick up again at some point; there was still a lot of bad blood.

"An actual roof over your head is always better, but the Gallows ain't a fortress that I'm glad to be in." Probably because it was a Circle fortress with a bad history, and they had spent a long time cleansing it when they got here.

"I was staying there for a bit since I preferred a bit more privacy then the dock housing could provide, but I moved out as soon as I was able. I currently share a house with a couple others in the nicer area of Lowtown."

"Not very. But then again I've been with the Inquisition for nearly two years and I have steady sources of income. Not to mention I bought it with someone else so I'm not living there by myself." Living in Kirkwall is strange in the first place for him, and really he doesn't present himself much like a mage just walking around.

"It's not a history that is going to be soon forgotten. Not to mention there are still remnants of things in there even if we did clear and cleanse most of it." The whole place just had a bad vibe, as did Kirkwall as a whole; especially some of the locals. "Honestly I'd rather go sleep in a tent, but lucky I'm not going to have to make that choice."

"If you ever need a break of the place, we have a couch that you can borrow if you want."
