i. Rey's Workshop
Since coming to Kirkwall, Rey's taken on a few new responsibilities, mainly the little maintenance things that a lot of other people didn't have time for. In the process she's taken on some other things, and started a few projects of her own. Her "workshop" is in actuality her bedroom, but she's stacked the two beds in the corner and cleared what furniture she wasn't using out completely, leaving as much floor space as possible for whatever she's working on. The desk that's been turned into a workbench is covered as well as the desk she uses for regular purposes.
During the day Rey leaves the door open when she's inside, and anyone looking for her there will find her working on something that looks vaguely like a torture device, piping connecting two tubs with some kind of oil burner sitting off to the side. Padawan lays near the fireplace, dozing on her own bed, but she's quick to pick her head up and perk her ears whenever someone comes close to the door.
ii. Lowtown
"What do you mean, the price has gone up? I just heard you tell that man it was two sovereigns!" Rey gestured after the retreating back of an older man, clearly a servant of some kind. The merchant sneered at her, leaning forward over the table towards Rey, only slightly.
"Honey, you're lucky I'm even doing business with you. You might be hiding your hands now, but you've been around the markets since the Inquisition barged in. I know you're one a them rift people and so do most of the other vendors around here. So the price is five, or you can go try your luck somewhere else." The woman manning the unremarkable little stand finished off with a smug smile that made Rey clench her fists. She wanted to turn around and storm off, but after a moment she exhaled, clearing her thoughts.
She knew Obi-Wan would probably scold her for this, but he wasn't here. She needed the box full of miscellaneous pieces of what might look like junk to some, but looked like things she could use for her Gallows-improving projects. She could ask the requisition agents to track down what she needed, but that would take much longer than she wanted. So as the woman stared at her with a head cocked, Rey focused, feeling the Force around her.
"The price is two sovereigns, because I've been a faithful patron and you appreciate my business," she says evenly. Immediately the woman's disposition changes, and she echoes Rey.
"The price is two sovereigns, because you've been a faithful patron and I appreciate your business." Rey immediately smiles and deposits the gold coins into the woman's outstretched palm, picking the box up off the table.
"Thank you. I hope you let the other merchants know that if they treat us rifters with the same kindness you've shown, we'll do the same." To that the woman smiles, nodding her head.
"Have a nice day, honey."
Rey rolls her eyes and walks off, headed back to the Gallows.
Closed for Kirk
The Gallows may seem larger than Skyhold, but once you get the hang of the twists and turns of the halls, and have made a few choice marks at the intersections, you start to figure out where you're headed. So when Rey wants to seek Kirk out, she's able to find him. There might be some passive use of the Force in her tracking abilities, but it's not something she's entirely aware of, at least not yet.
More likely, she simply knows where Kirk spends his time.
"So I know I've said I'd show you before, but you haven't seen my lightsabers in action yet, have you?" she starts right in when she finds him in preface of a formal greeting, not something she's ever been entirely accustomed to.

I-A Potential Customer
His gaze flickered to the hound who had now turned their head toward him, eyes and ears on alert and curious. The corners of his mouth tipped up ever so slightly. He'd always liked hounds, but they were never practical companions in Lorien what with him spending the greater percentage of his time eighty feet in the air running tree to tree.
He he cleared his throat and knocks softly on the door frame, waiting outside politely. If there was one thing Lady Galadriel had instilled in him time and time again, it was politeness.

"Can I help you?" She's never been the type to mince words, greetings being no exception. Some of the more sensitive members of the Inquisition who have enlisted her help have complained of her being gruff, but she doesn't particularly care about her reputation.
/punches in here finally
Especially when she offers that.
He grinned widely. "No, no you haven't. Did you get it working?"
no subject
"I did. Obi-Wan taught me how to repair a lightsaber. I was never going to fix it the way I was trying to, but I have fixed it now." She is proud of this accomplishment, because according to Obi-Wan it took most Jedi padawan years before they were able to assemble their own lightsabers. She's glad she learned the right way, before Obi-Wan disappeared.

"Well, then we should find a place and see what all your hard work has accomplished!" Kirk gushed with the excited air of a puppy. If he had a tail, it would be wagging excitedly, ears perked up. As it was, his eyes sparkled and he practically bounced in eagerness for Rey to lead the way and introduce him to this new marvel.

"Have you met Padawan?" she asks as they walk, indicating the dog. She had been Obi-Wan's before, but had seemed quite content to make Rey her new person when he disappeared.

Kirk starts at the mabari - dog was like a ghost, goodness. But he recovers quickly and gives the dog a smile, reaching out his hand for her to sniff - or do whatever it was Mabari's did to decide if they were going to bit your face off or not.
"No, I have not," he clarified for Rey. "Nice to meet you, Padawan. Jaylah would be jealous, seeing you. She only dreams of becoming a big girl like you," he grinned, keeping in step with Rey. "Ah, Jaylah is my dog, for reference. Just so it doesn't sound weird."
no subject
"I kind of figured," Rey replied to Kirk's explanation, smiling a little. "Padawan used to belong to Obi-Wan. She's sort of... adopted me."
no subject
"They have a habit of doing that - dogs, that is," he chuckled. "So, about that light saber..." he eyed the piece of tech in her hand with bright eyes, more than a little intrigued on how she got it to work when his own tech still remained dormant, and if he could adapt that to the piece of useless metal still stuffed in the bottom of a trunk in his home.

"The kyber crystal was still in tact, and Obi-Wan showed me how to adapt a few things from here. It took some tweaking to get them working properly, but they do." She turns another corner and they're in the courtyard. Starting across the open area towards the secluded corner she'd claimed as her own.
