WHAT: Back in Kirkwal after the dragon fight, and Elros is remembering how annoying having "parents" around can be. Help a man sneak out for an unsupervised drink?
WHEN: the latter half of December

NOTES: probably nothing, but there may or may not be family drama.

For the Family - YOU ARENT MY REAL DAD

Elros glares, paces the floor agitatedly and snarls at the confinement.

"It's a scratch! Galadriel was away, Master Anders did a good job, I'm healed! I'll not be confined to my room like a child!"

For the Neighbours and those passing by - 90 is too old to be sneaking out the room, right?

It's taken him a full two days, and Elrond would shake his head at him if he knew, but he's finally managed to wrangle time alone without one of his kinsmen in the room, and its the work of a moment to pick the lock and sneak into the corridor. The yelling and throwing things probably was heard by all around, so Elros is hoping no one is actually here to see him slide silently across the hallway, wincing as he steps on a loose floorboard and it creaks.

Maybe tomorrow he'll try climbing out the window instead.

Tavern

He's laughing, open, friendly, sharing a drink or a tale or a song or a game of dice, totally forgetting that he was meant to be quiet and careful, so as not to be found out.

"Hello stranger! Come and join us!"

Training Fields

Normally, he'd have stayed away for a little while longer, but Anders' magic healing has left him itching in his skin. He has no ship to sail, and the fishermen can only sometimes be persuaded to take him out, so the training fields it is, the longsword singing in his hands as he pushes himself.

"So says the one who has the memory of a Man." Maedhros knocks his knuckles lightly against Elros's head.

Elros grins up at him.

"Useful thing that."

"I imagine." he huffs, "I would like to forget some events!"

[tar_minyatur]

"Elrond says you can remember but should not dwell." Elros says sagely and grins.

"Clearly, you should listen to my brother more."

[castintoflames]

"He was born wise." Maedhros sighs, reflecting Elros's grin, "Arda should and our mistakes will ne'er be repeated!"

"And doesn't he like to rub it in." Elros agrees cheerfully.

"Which is whyyyyyyy getting back to our very first conversation here, you need to make sure you look after him when he gets to Valinor. Clearly."

[castintoflames]

"He is not ashamed - nor should he be." he chuckles softly, "You can depend on me if my begging brings me to Valinor. Otherwise, he will be welcomed by all of our kin."

"He will be welcomed, of that I have no doubt."

Elros says quietly.

"But they won't be family Maedhros. He won't know them."

"That can be remedied." but the words strike home, "How do you know he will be happy to see me? You were quite angry."

"Oh, he'll be furious!" Elros says cheerfully.

"We both were - because we love you, you idiot."

[castintoflames]

"Are you trying to convince me or drive me far away?" Maedhros smirks faintly, amused, "I love you too."

[tar_minyatur]

"Clearly to convince you! If we are angry, you needs must come and apologise properly, no?"

"How can you ever accept my apology?" he tilts his head, "I don't mind saying it as many times as you and he need."

"Because we love you, idiot."

[castintoflames]

Maedhros lowers his head to rest briefly on Elros's shoulder, his face obscured by his bright hair.

"I am an idiot. But I am an idiot who is learning better."

[tar_minyatur]

"Oh good." Elros hugs him back fiercely.

"Maybe Elrond won't need to smack you too badly."

[castintoflames]

He chuckles helplessly, returning the embrace just as fiercely.

"I don't mind being smacked. How else will I change for the better?"

"Always happy to provide! Although I should leave some for my brother..."

[castintoflames]

"You can reach my face here. I would take advantage of it." he leans down the slightest bit to make it even easier.

[tar_minyatur]

"I already punched you once though." Elros reasons, and kisses him on the cheek instead.

"So I shouldn't be greedy."

[castintoflames]

"Words tend to hurt more than blows." Maedhros smiles softly and closes his eyes, "As long as you are satisfied."

[tar_minyatur]

"I am." Elros leans against him. "Can't speak for Elrond!"

[castintoflames]

He nuzzles his cheek against his hair. "I would not ask you to speak for him. Twins you might be, but you differ greatly."

[tar_minyatur]

"We were always different." Elros agrees wistfully. "Complimentary. I miss him. How it's going to hurt him when I am gone!"
