Training Grounds
Of course, one of the first places that Kain checks out in Skyhold is the training grounds. Anything else can wait, it's more important for him to be at his best... especially with what they're facing here. He's still getting used to everything, coming to terms with the gods' war being over for him, and with the fact that it hadn't been the end he'd expected.
So Kain can be seen practicing with his spear, slicing up targets with the well-practiced ease of a skilled warrior. Every so often he throws in something probably a lot less... expected... like a mighty Jump or a blast of Cyclone. He's intent on what he's doing, but definitely open to sparring should anyone be around.
Around Skyhold
To go along on this mission, he's got to blend in. Which means that, unfortunately, it really isn't such a great idea to wear his typical dragoon gear out there. Way too noticeable for someone posing as a hunter.
He's somehow thrown together an especially garish combination of colors and patterns for his current attempt at "blending in". There's plaidweave of course, so much plaidweave, along with ring velvet, silk, ram leather... The whole thing isn't exactly... the greatest combination of patterns and colors (but since when has Kain known how to dress aside from armor?).
He doesn't seem to notice anything amiss as he explores the area some more. There are two main places he's most likely to be run into: He's especially fond of walking high along the castle battlements and towers, where he spends a lot of time. But he will also take a break for a drink later on in the tavern as well.

So it's a complete surprise when he hears that familiar voice and then sees her... "Yuna...?" Can it be true? Last he'd seen of her, they'd been in much less pleasant conditions... last he'd seen had been a glimpse of her also falling as everything had gone black for him... "I didn't think... I thought I was alone here..."
It's hard for him to say the whole I've missed you thing, but he's most definitely thinking that right now. He's ached to see any of his comrades, especially those who'd been beside him in that final fight.

Her smile was just as bright, and thankful, though Yuna stopped herself from reaching out, knowing Kain was the sort that needed warming up to that kind of thing as it was.
"I..." she shook her head, starting over, knowing the feeling that he spoke of -- she had thought she would be alone here also. "It's really you, isn't it? You came through the a rift?" and down her eyes glanced towards his hand. "Did you -- the mark? Is it...?" Did he have it as well?

Kain remains as stoic as ever, but he really is happy, so relieved to see her. His lips may even for a moment quirk up into something close to a smile. “It’s true, I came through a rift… it seems there are several of us here who did…. though I have yet to see anyone else from the gods’ war.” He raises his left hand to show off the mark. At least it stopped hurting now, and he could grip his spear like normal. “It seems the mark is a consequence of our arrival.”

"Um..." her lips pressed together, wondering how to gently address the situation, as her gaze trailed back up the length of his outfit. "Did -- something happen to your armour?"
no subject
Kain glances down at his strange outfit, realizing how this must seem. He shakes his head. "The armor is fine, but I'm going on a mission where it's important to blend in. So I'm... doing that. Blending in." No, he's not very good at that sort of thing, at all, nor entirely comfortable in something that's not his armor.

Except for those clothes. Yuna had a cousin that might appreciate the wide array of fabrics and colours but for reasons beyond his control, it did nothing for Kain. "That is... ah, I see. Whereabouts are you headed on your mission?"
Hopefully it was somewhere bright. Maybe even eye-searingly so.

“We’re to be acting like hunters and merchants, in some other frozen region of this world. At least it’s mountainous, though…” Still totally oblivious to the clothing, hey, it would definitely fit in, in Baron.
