I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world...

WHO: Elros and Maglor and you
WHAT: Elros' Sea-Longing is getting worse since he can't put out with the fishing boats in the winter. So he's building a boat, instead. What? This makes perfect sense.
WHEN: Most of the rest of winter
WHERE: a quiet spot in the harbor
NOTES: probably none!
 

He is no Cirdan, but the Shipwright wasn't about to send the Edain off in boats they did not know, so since War of Wrath ended, Elros put aside the soldiers life to work alongside his men in the shipyards of the Falathrim, learning to build their own ships as well how to sail them.

And then he came here.

He has wheedled and charmed the local sailors, worked passage on the fishing boats in good weather enough to be able to claim this small dark corner and provisions enough to start... well. Not a ship. Little better than a raft, in truth. But the Falathrim knew their business, and taught Elros well, who has the blood of mariners in his veins.

Come and find him splitting wood or planning the planks smooth, or perhaps working on the design in the early days. Since he can't afford iron nails, he's using mortise and tenon joints, and slowly over the weeks the little boat begins to take shape. He'll chat to anyone who comes by, and is happy to accept help, or just company. Come late enough in the business and you might smell the tar he's mixing for the caulking. Or maybe you've got some idea where he can buy or work for more materials?

Closed to Maglor 

His foster fathers are idiots, but Elros has considered the tales told, and the things not said, and reached a conclusion - Maglor needs to learn how to build a boat of his own. Since Maglor has taken to watching him as if he is going to vanish, this serves two purposes quite nicely.

"See, the joint needs to be tight, so!"

Maglor laughs as well, finding it strangely easy.

"Let's see how much more we can get! I'll see if anyone wants to listen to music from strange lands."

Elros, on his part, is delighted by how happy his foster father seems to be.

"Yes! I'm sure you can charm them all."

[seawanderer]

He'll take it, for once. The shadows seem more distant today.

He flushes shyly. "Perhaps a challenge, yonya? Who brings in the most supplies?"

Elros will do his level best to chase them away.

"You'll win." He laughs at him. "Who could resist your voice? Oh no. I'm not about to challenge the greatest bard of the Noldor!"

If anyone can manage that, it's Elros!

Maglor grins, eyes bright- brighter than normal. "Spoilsport!" He's not above throwing that back at the man!

Elros doesn't notice, for his own are just as bright.

"I am a bad loser!" He retorts with a laugh. " And I have no wish to be roundly thrashed!"

[seawanderer]

"I remember!" He laughs as well. "But it would be fun!" For Maglor.

"For you!" Elros echoes his thought and swats at him fondly.

"No, I would much rather watch you charm the whole town!"

[seawanderer]

Mind-reader! He only grins and reaches to pull Elros close again.

"Then watch you shall!"

[tar_minyatur]

Because he knows you so well!

He comes willingly.

"Will you sing our favourite?"

[seawanderer]

Precious child. Maglor curls around him with a soft hum, affection calming some of the fierce light.

"If you want me to."

[tar_minyatur]

Elros hums back to him, cheerfully.

"You know I always do."

And then he breaks free, restless, reaching for the tools.

"Do you think Maedhros will like it?"

[seawanderer]

Just for that, Elros gets a hair-ruffle!

Before Maglor picks his tools up again, just as restless.

"We're making the boats. You know he will."

Yay, hair ruffles!

"But what if he doesn't like the eagle? Feathers are hard to carve...."

[seawanderer]

He scoffs. "Then we practice until we can carve beautiful feathers." Duh!

[tar_minyatur]

"Should we practice before we finish the boats? I don't want to put shoddy workmanship...."

[seawanderer]

"Then we will practice until we are both comfortable carving horses and swans and feathers!"

[tar_minyatur]

Elros laughs.

"We'll need wood for that too! And you'll have to help me out"

[seawanderer]

A challenging little smirk.

"Oh? Have you forgotten what they look like, yonya?"

[tar_minyatur]

He blinks back at him, all wide eyed innocence.

"Maybe I have~"

[seawanderer]

He laughs.

"Then I shall help you remember!"

[tar_minyatur]

"And how will you manage that?"

He grins at him challengingly.

[seawanderer]

"Would a few knocks on the head help?" Oh so innocent~

[tar_minyatur]

He pretends to think about it.

"Maybe! But... what if it made me forget more?"

[seawanderer]

Maglor laughs and aims a swat at Elros.

"Or it'll teach you a lesson!"
