The new manor has come a far sight from where it had been, cleaned and updated significantly, but the aesthetics are still in keeping with Kirkwall standard...mostly. The exterior features a large iron scrollwork fence with matching gates, currently flung wide open, and a cheerful array of fresh floral decorations. Beyond the gates there are a number of hedges, bare but thick enough that once spring has properly taken over, they will likely be shaped into large living sculptures. There are a few torches scattered among the flora, but they lead toward the front of the manor.

The building's superstructure has not been overtly altered, but there are several exceedingly Tevene touches. The front doors, once made of hardwood, have been wholly replaced by a pair extremely detailed, solid, white marble doors. The fittings are all custom made, snake themed, and plated in gold.

The interior of the building is far more obviously Tevinter styled. The floors are the original wooden, polished to a mirror shine by the staff and bedecked in places by rugs with complex woven designs and thick piles. The foyer is well lit by a series of gold, wall-mounted sconces, and a large chandelier made of serault glass with a distinctly magical light-source in the center.

The staff, all elven in matching black uniforms, are waiting just inside the threshold and are ready to assist anyone who requires it. First and foremost they will offer to take any coats and curtsy with proper depth to anyone who passes by.

There is still some construction going on, deeper in the house, but it is up the grand staircase and beyond the realm of the party. Occasional hammer-falls resound from upstairs but they can only be heard if one is being very quiet.

No one would be so foolish as to poison him so openly, he thinks. Loki would kill Barnabas right away for a show of house loyalty, and the dwarf strikes him as smart enough to know that. Thor nods, takes a spoon, and takes a bite. It's as tasty as suggested.

"How much for the artifact?" He has the gold and it is, while not extremely useful magic, still a magic no one else in Tevinter has to the best of his knowledge.

"Well, I could just sell it to you Thor, but I may have something more interesting to offer!" Barnabas takes another bite of the frozen drink and grins.

"Tell me, what do you know about running a business?"

"Little to nothing." He's not sure he likes how the dwarf grins. There is something scheming in it, or perhaps Thor is reading into it because he knows Barnabas and his brother are close.

"That is what the steward sees to, so our estate is supplied and funded. It is not something I have studied. You may make your proposal, but I would not put faith in it being more interesting to me." Money could bring power, but magic and might could also bring power, and those were his usual currency.

"Oh, I think you'll like this. These little frozen things are tasty yes? Imagine the city in the height of summer. Hot sun beating down. You know how much people would pay for something cool and tasty? I just need a partner, someone who can help with the business, maybe even knows a bit of magic to help, and who has capital they're willing to invest."

Barnabas drains the remaining slush from his glass and refills it, freezing and blending it again. "We could make a killing here, all that is necessary is to be willing to grab it."

He doesn't know how much people would pay for that. A few coins? Most of the city feels poor. There is Hightown, certainly, but Lowtown is shabby and he has heard tell of far worse in Darktown. What profits really could be had here? And does he need this distraction, a partnership with someone who works with his brother?

Thor shakes his head.

"I am sorry. Commerce does not interest me. My goal is to join the Inquisition, not to feed the people of Kirkwall fancy ice. There is a war to win. Perhaps my brother would be interested in opening shop. But if you do not find a partner and choose to sell the device, you should let me know." He's carrying enough baggage with his brother there; there's every chance Loki will be just as much trouble as help. Being a partner with an unknown element does not seem a wise choice.

"Ehhh, working with Loki, I dunno. I'd always be worried he'd either try to steak the business from me, or get bored and wander off. But no matter, I just wanted to give you the chance, and if you're not into it, so be it!"

Barnabas gestures to the punch bowl. "Another frozen ice? I'm thinking of trying new flavors, different fruit...need to contact some cooks, some mages as well...You know any really good mages? Ice spells would be the most useful. Ohh, and some craftsmen, this is gonna be a tricky job..."

"I am good, thank you." The ice is interesting, but the south is cold. Open doors do not lend themselves to keeping in the heat.

"The best mages I know are not in this country, I fear. I am certain there are some who are skilled here, the south would have fallen entirely otherwise, but I do not yet know them by name." Maybe now that there were fewer disease issues he'll get to meet more people. He will work toward that, at least. "Shall I leave you to it?"

"Oh, of course, of course, A pleasure to talk with you Thor, having a great time. Until next time!" Barnabas gives his hand a hearty shake and leans back against the punch table, pulling out a pencil and a notepad, beginning to write notes.
