The march into the Anderfels is almost achingly familiar to Ciri by now. The wind does little to help with the stinging heat (though it helps to cover their movement and tracks) baring down on them as they move through the arid landscape from their camp in the Hunterhorn mountains nearby and toward a marked location on their maps that she would have rather forgotten altogether since their escape from there almost two years ago now. Weisshaupt was a maze of memories that she has still not completely unpacked but once they spy the statue in the distance, Our Lady of the Anderfels, there is an unusual silence that falls over the sometimes talkative young Warden.

Yet her focus does linger long on the statue and instead sifts to where she knows where the Broken Tooth, and Weisshaupt, linger. It's not so easy to see the fortress yet, or whatever remains of it, from where they currently are but peeking through her spyglass does net her one interesting sight. Smoke, or ash. Something is raising from the belly of that Maker-be-damned fortress.

"Right, then. I suppose it would be to much to ask that Weisshaupt was still somehow burning and that smoke isn't some weird new Vint inspired ritual?"

"It could be both." His voice is cheerful even if the thought isn't. It's nice to be somewhere bone-scorchingly hot for a change. The mission is grim... but the mission is always grim, and he's got his husband here, a couple friends, and it's warm.

"It could even be some demon-inspired ritual. Or a whole colony of insects caught fire and wandered into the library on accident. It could be anything. We'll not know until we get there." He pauses for a moment. "Even then we might not figure it out as we're not doing a raid." Yet.

Anders crouches so he's not silhouetted against the ridge, squinting and seeing little of interest just yet. "The good news is that they don't appear to have patrols all the way out here. They're confident. Or incompetent."

Nahariel on the other hand prefers temperate climates, and is generally displeased by both the sweat gathering under her armor and the sand that's getting into absolutely everything. Nevertheless, she'd agreed to join the mission, and thus has obediently followed Ciri and Anders out here to aid in scouting the Warden fortress. She'll take a knee beside the mage.

"Or undermanned," she adds. "If it's that rather than confident or incompetent we'll want to keep a weather eye out for traps and snares closer on."
