Be prepared for the worst

WHO: Dismas and anyone
WHAT: Readying supplies and making certain he has everything he needs for the roads.
WHEN: Before leaving
WHERE: Near the quartermasters, gardens and anywhere else he can grab supplies.
NOTES: Nothing

No rest for the wicked, huh? It seemed like he had only just returned to Skyhold not that long ago, only to be thrown to the wolves once more. Well whatever, he's expendable, he knows that. A criminal like him shouldn't expect better than to be worked to the bone. Doesn't mean that he likes the unnecessary added stress of having to return to the roads again.

It was methodical, he's done this before. A life's worth of experience traveling the roads, backcountries and streets has left him with the knowledge necessary to think ahead and prepare for whatever he might find.

Only this time, he wasn't robbing wayfarers or picking through corpses.

"HEY."

Comes the angry response, as the man sticks his hands into a sack of freshly gathered elfroot outside what looks like a half-built hut, in the middle of the courtyard. The current occupant, and owner of said sack, glowers at him angrily.

"Get your own. There's plenty in the Makers be damned garden! It took me hours out in the hills to gather that!"

"Then why did you go out to gather them?" He rolled his eyes and took stock of how much there was. He might still have enough space left to carry them around in his pack.

"I went out to gather them for my own damned mission, and not to deplete the other rations for Skyhold." She growled as she marched right out of her cabin and put her arm out to push him away from her barrels.

"So. Go. Get. Your. Own."

"What does it look like I'm doing?" Getting his own, at the hard work of another. He really doesn't see much of a problem here. If she really wanted to, she could just hoard a bunch of the stuff from the gardens or from one of the apothecary that's bound to be floating around Skyhold.

Really, she's overreacting here. "Sharing, is caring."

"It looks like you're stealing." Katniss stated firmly, as she put herself between her herbs and this reprobate. "And guess what, always helps to ask first."

"Always helps to not leave your bag open, unattended and in a public area." Came the rebuttal, as he looked over what he had pillaged. These would do nicely for now. Time to go and find himself some poison next.

"Public area -- you're in front of my cabin, you asshole!" Katniss growled, balling up her fists, "What kind of person doesn't even ask first?"

"The kind who sees a random bag just laying there." Ready and ripe for the taking. Really, he doesn't know why she's making such a big deal over this. Such a pain.

"Oh, so, you're just a thief." Katniss said tartly, arms folded over her chest. "So glad we've got all kinds here in the Inquisition."

"I like to think I'm more of a man of opportunity." He said in return. Really, what gave him away? The fact that he was taking something that was clearly not marked as his? Also, he doesn't see her name on it.

"A man of opportunity with things that are not yours." Besides the fact the bag was in front of her house? Which does have her name on it.

Ah--

This was... not what he had expected.

Certainly, Bruce had put his potions outside of his tent, but that was because it would be easier for him to come over and take them when he needed to. Most people usually didn't care so much, but apparently his luck had run out today.

"...I apologize, did you need some of those potions?" He tries to sound as patient and as pleasant as possible, since its not really the other party's fault. "Those are mind, but if you do need any of them..."

"If you got any to spare."

He grunted before pulling out a coin purse and giving it a small toss up and catching it, just to make the coins inside of it jingle. "I'm willing to compensate you, of course."

The cost of preparedness.

Bruce blinked at the sight of the coins, more surprised than anything else. Perhaps other people would want that, but for him...

"Oh, you don't have to pay for them," he waved off the purse, quickly assuring the other. "Feel free to take as many as you need." They were for the Inquisition after all, and it wouldn't make sense to be paid for something like that.

"Then I won't."

The money could be better spent elsewhere, such as at the tavern. Wine and women don't come cheap you know. He eyes whatever Bruce has to offer for a moment. "This all you got?"

Some poison and antivenom could prove handy certainly.

Bruce blinked at the bluntness of the question, but he nodded after a moment's pause. "For now, yes. I'm making more, though, so you're free to come by later if you want more - or if you want anything else, I can look into it too."

Never let it be said that Bruce was unwilling to help.

"Hm, it works." He said, snagging a few more supplies. This could prove to be a rather long journey, best to be prepared for most of anything. And if he doesn't even need half of this stuff? Then, well, more for next and all of that.

"Did you need anything?"

"You mean, from outside of Skyhold?" Bruce asked back in turn, just to make sure he was on the right track - he wasn't very fond of misunderstandings. "If you can find any kind of herbs, I'd appreciate it."

With how busy he tended to be in Skyhold, Bruce didn't have a lot of time to travel out - which in turn meant less opportunities to get supplies. The scouts had been doing their best to help on that front, but still... there were a lot of people in Skyhold, and resources could only stretch so thin.

"...Fine. I'll see what I can do." He makes sound off putting, like it's something that he'll force himself to do. But the benefit of all would still be a benefit to him.

"Thank you," Bruce gives him a smile, hoping that would be enough to convey his gratitude. "I do appreciate it."

Dismas just nodded his head. "What keeps you alive also keeps me alive." He supposed that would be one way to look at anyway.

There's a wry smile from Bruce at that. "I suppose that's one way to put it." If that was what helped him, then Bruce wasn't going to stop him.
