The Docks - Obi-Wan
Rey is tired after the trip to Orlais and looking forward to taking a bath and sleeping in her own bed for a change. But she can't help opening her senses as she disembarks, feeling out the Force, looking for Ben. What she doesn't expect is to sense someone else, someone she had grimly accepted she would never feel again.
She stops where she stands, Padawan looking at her quizzically as she freezes, trying to zero in on where he is. Obi-Wan.
When she determines the direction she takes off running down the docks, the Force guiding her. She catches sight of him and pushes herself faster, even as her vision blurs from tears welling in her eyes. She doesn't slow down until she crashes into him, throwing her arms around him with a sob. She's been so unsure of so much lately, but she can't help the profound relief washing over her as she feels the presence of her master once again.
Open - Training yard
She's back to one lightsaber, not that she minds. It's easier to control one than two, and she's more comfortable this way. The lightsaber that she had come to think of as hers in her hand, her first line of defense against demons and whatever else stands in her way.
For the moment she's running through her forms, things she learned under Obi-Wan, and a few she'd improvised, modified from Kylo Ren's fighting style. She holds the ignited saber in front of her, sweeping it in a slow arc, pacing her breathing, before speeding up, taking herself through motions she's practiced what feels like a thousand times, now.
Her chosen training spot is a little out of the way, but the low hum of the saber usually attracts some attention.
Open - Rey's Workshop
Often in the evenings, unless Rey is working on something or wanting private time, she'll leave the door to her room open so that Padawan can come and go, and so that others who might need her services can pop in. Or just so friends can pop in. The usual organized chaos of her room stands regardless of the day, and she is usually sitting at her desk, bent over something or another.
Her current project is another series of mini trebuchets that can be used in the obstacle course, and they sit around her desk in a varied state of disarray, some fully constructed, others waiting to be finished. She will look up when someone walks in, and if it's someone she doesn't recognize her tools will go down and she'll stand, asking who they are. If it's a friend they'll just get a smile and a wave as Rey finishes whatever she's in the middle of doing. She can talk and tinker, she's good at multitasking.

"If we place them all in a row so they're part of the run-up to the wall... hnn. It would be a more delicate thing, setting them, but... what if you connected the lever arm of the first to the trigger of the next so that the first shot firing would set the next off?" She chews at her lip a bit. "That might slow it down and then you'd have to recalculate the counterweight, but, it might be worth a try in any case?"
And then, after a second look and a delighted chuckle, "And if it works, you might want to pass that design up to Commander Coupe."
no subject
"That's good. I actually think that if I maybe added an interlocking trigger with pieces of metal rather than rope they could all be reset from the first one, rather than having to do it manually each time." Rey grabs her pencil, jotting down the modifications. "I doubt that anything exists like that already but the mechanism shouldn't be hard to produce in the forge."

"Metal is one thing that's always been in abundance where I'm from. We could probably use wood for most of the mechanism instead for larger ones... It may break down faster but it could be reinforced with bolts."
no subject
If we were to be in a siege situation, the metal we have may well be better used in this kind of design. A better assault on fortifications means fewer ground troops needed, which means less arms and armor needed, and most importantly, means fewer deaths." She crosses her arms and shifts her stance, considering. Thinking about a full-on assault wasn't pleasant, not with having come to care for several of the people who were likely to be in that front-line.
"That's for another day, though. It'll work brilliantly for what we've got going here."
no subject
She nods at what Nari's saying, looking up at her with a small smile.
"It works on the small scale, we can worry about the bigger picture when we get there." If they got there, which is entirely likely. A full-scale assault against Corypheus had to happen eventually, but it's not something she loves thinking about. It'd be easier if they could just keep going the way they have been. But nothing is ever easy.

There was still a bit of business, however, so she hefts and waves the larger scroll she'd come in with. It's a familiar one, the overall layout of their course.
"Have you got room to stretch this out so we can add in some positioning notes on these?"
no subject
"Over here," she says, lifting up what will look to Nari like just a weird vaguely disc-shaped object made up of blocks similar to the ones she just swept into the box, but to anyone who knows, it's a model of the YT-1300f light freighter known as the Millennium Falcon. She carefully sets the model down on a smaller table next to one of the chairs near the fireplace, before turning back to the table.

"It's a model of my ship. The Millennium Falcon. Funny thing is, this box of blocks came through a rift, complete with instructions on how to put this together." She could have figured it out without the instructions, of course, but the instructions had been interesting. Logos had been scratched out, and the words had been a language she didn't know, but the pictures had been easy to follow along with.
crouching down next to the table Rey looks over the plans, a small smile on her face. They'd certainly done something impressive, despite not having high tech tools at their disposal.

"Do you miss it?" she asks, frowning thoughtfully and shifting a few of the stones back and forth before gesturing for Rey to change them about. After all, she knew more about the capabilities of her machines than Nari did. "Flying, I mean."
no subject
"I do. I used to fill my hours with flight simulators, and when I got to fly for real..." she remembers that first time. It hadn't been the Falcon, it had been the ship that she'd rebuilt from a buried Ghtroc 690 the wind storms had unearthed. The ship that Devi and Strunk had stolen from her. Still, the memory of the flight is a good one.
"There's nothing like flying."
no subject
"I'm sorry," Nari says simply. She darts her eyes across the rocks. They look good, so she pulls the charcoal stick from behind her ear and starts lifting them, drawing little stylized triangles in the places Rey had marked. "I know what it's like to miss a home you may never return to. It must be harder still to miss an entire world." She pauses for a few moments in respect of that before casually saying "But you have someone to miss it with now, hm? Kylo's from your plane, isn't he?"
no subject
It's a strange feeling, to both miss something and not, at once.
At the mention of Kylo her eyes shift to Nari, nostrils flaring slightly.
"Yeah, he is. Two more from our galaxy showed up in this last rift, too. Obi-Wan is back, and Poe Dameron."
no subject
It's not as if Rey could choose who falls out of the Rifts.
no subject
"I think this place will be good for him, though. And Obi-Wan... He's from a time before mine but he was here before. We grew close, so I'm very happy he's back." The smile is back as she lifts herself up, moving to sit on the edge of one of the chairs. "I didn't really think I'd see so many people from there here."
no subject
The smile quirks up into a grin. "I don't suppose Poe and Obi-Wan are also builders?" she asks. The group of them seemed to be from one of the most advanced universes as far as technology went. Perhaps someday Rey could even fly again.
"And Kylo... at first?"
[sorry I was gone~~ lmk if you ever just want to wrap the rest :) ]

At Nari's next question Rey tries not to blush, sitting back in her chair all the same, like shifting away from where the light is brightest will help.
"We've... resolved some of our differences." More than some, really.
[ never girl-talk forever. ]
no subject
"I suppose having had some previous differences explains him alternating between looking like a stormcloud and watching you thoughtfully," Nari replies lightly, trying (and failing, given that her eyes are obviously alight with mischief) to pretend she's not fishing for a reaction.
All right, so maybe she wants to be the one doing the teasing once in a while.

"W-Oh. While we were working on the obstacle course." She bites the inside of her lip, looking away from the elf for a moment before looking back at her. "We used to be enemies. I'm the one that gave him that scar on his face."

It's odd, wearing so many reminders. She's never been much for adornment.
"We have a connection. The power I have- he has it too, and it's tied us together somehow. We called a truce when he first arrived, in favor of working together to get home. Then we started spending time together and... that led to other things." She blushes a little, thinking of that first kiss in her tent.
no subject
And then: Oh-hooo? The elf grins as Rey's cheeks tint a little pink. "Solving previous differences?" she asks cheekily, obviously meaning Something Else.
no subject
"We still have our differences. More... we're trying to put them aside." She sighs, a little reluctantly. She and Ben had agreed they weren't going to keep a secret of their involvement with one-another, of course, but it's very different, deciding something and actually talking about it.
"There might have been lips involved in that decision."
no subject
She's about to apologize and go back to talking about more comfortable topics like massive weapons of war when Rey mentions lip-related decisions and she perks right back up. She does, however, wave her hands in an attempt to reassure the other woman that she oughtn't feel pressured to continue. "Oh-- I-- that's all entirely your business. I don't mean to pry."
That doesn't mean the elf doesn't look a little hopeful that Rey will continue. (After all, she's been wondering about these types of things.)
