❰ like the introduction to aro and iessa, this is a conversation adalia's been looking forward to having. newt had seemed so genuinely interested in getting to meet charis, and adalia is so interested in hearing everything newt has to say about the animals he's studied — she's practically bouncing on the balls of her feet as she calls him over crystal. ❱

Newt, I do believe it's time for that tea we'd talked about in the Sunless Lands, does today work for you? I've told Charis all about you.

[Newt smiles as he listens to Adalia's voice over the crystal, very much eager for the prospect of taking her up on the offer they discussed earlier. Tea and dragons are exactly what he needs right now. He is very much enthusiastic in his reply; she can likely hear his smile through the crystal.]

Today works perfectly for me! I'm very much at your service, whenever is most convenient for you and Charis. I'm looking forward to this tea very much!

❰ newt is so cute. adalia grins brightly, leaning forward as if newt were in the room with her and she was trying to talk to him conspiratorially. ❱

How does right now work for you? We can swing by the Templar tower for some food and tea and have a picnic in the courtyard.

[Newt beams, bright enough that he's certain she can hear the smile on his face through the crystal.]

Right now, truly? That would be most excellent!

And a picnic in the courtyard sounds perfect. I'll see what I can bring. Does Charis like treats?

❰ adalia's grin is equally audible — it's so nice to have someone as excited about dragons as her around. newt is a delight. as she speaks, adalia begins to gather her things together, gesturing at charis to come out of his self-created ice cavern in the corner of the room. ❱

He does! He'll eat most anything you give him, but meat is best, of course. If you can freeze it before bringing it to him, that would be even better, but he can do that himself too. And if you can't find anything, don't worry — bringing yourself will be treat enough!

[Newt himself has picked himself up as well, gathering bits of food he keeps for use for treats for Merlin and Malcha, making his way toward where Adalia mentions.]

I have meat, no worries, and I can certainly use my magic to freeze it before I get there. I look forward to seeing you both soon!

❰ plans made, adalia cuts off the connection between their crystals with a cheerful see you soon! and makes her way to the gallows courtyard, pausing to pick up a few food items before she gets there. by the time newt shows up, adalia's sitting against a wall in the sun with charis sprawled out next to her, his head resting in her lap. she smiles as soon as she sees newt and waves, but doesn't move to disturb charis. ❱

Hello, Newt!

[Newt smiles as the crystal connection severs, making his way to their planned meeting place. She beats him there, which isn't surprising, given how he winds up walking in circles for a moment or two. Even having been in the Gallows for a few months now, he still has trouble finding his way around every now and again.]

Hello, Adalia!

[He waves while also trying to keep his voice quiet, not wanting to disrupt the dragon's rest.]

And this lovely creature must be Charis.

How are you both?

We're great! Looking forward to the picnic.

❰ despite both their attempts not to disturb charis, the dragon shifts, opening an eye to look over at newt. it takes a moment for him to decide that yes, this is interesting enough to get up for, and he rises to his feet languidly as adalia watches with an indulgent smile. with a yawn and a cat-like streeeetch forward, charis trots forward to sniff at newt, and adalia pushes herself to her feet to follow him. ❱

It's a bit early in the day for him, but he likes meeting new people too much to sleep once you showed up. How are you, Newt? Have you been settling in alright?

Glad to hear it. So am I.

[At the sign of movement, Newt shifts his gaze to the dragon, a lovely sight to behold. His enthusiasm shows in his face, as he has never been one to hide how much he delights in dragons and all other magical creatures.

He holds out a hand for Charis to sniff, delighting in the dragon's cat-like movements.]

Hello there. It's a pleasure to meet you Charis. I must say, you're smaller than the dragons I know. It's very charming.

[He glances back to Adalia, still smiling.]

I've been well. How about yourself?

As for settling in, well. As much as I ever settle in one place, I suppose. Kirkwall is certainly interesting.
