The day starts out fairly normally, Beleth in the training room, a grenade in her hands, that she's inspecting closely. "Confusion grenades are so important," She's explaining, "Because they cut out a lot of work for us. With our enemies attacking each other, we can wait on the sidelines and let them wear themselves down on one another, before we risk any of our own." But this one is different, new, and she needs to make sure that it actually functions like a grenade, before going trying it in the field.
So, without further ado, she lights the fuse, and starts to toss it. But the grenade has barely left her hands before it goes off, a fantastic explosion that knocks Beleth off her feet.
Rising to her feet, the Scoutmaster seems to be none the worse for wear, save a quick round of wheezing coughs. A few moments of silence follows, Beleth staring at the ground as she gets her bearings, and then slowly turns to look around.
It's hard to think, mind wrapped in a hazy fog that offers little room for thoughts, aside from one.
--Enemies. She's surrounded by enemies. How did they get here? Is this an assassination attempt? How--? It doesn't matter. All that matters is that she deals with them before they hurt anyone else.
A dagger appears in her hand, and without warning, she darts at whoever is closest, slicing at their face as soon as she's within range.

His footfalls ought to signal his approach, as will the knock against the frame of her door when he steps in, Iorveth peering through to see her working on crafts in her sickbed, small half-smile on his lips.
"Not sure about injury. Looks like you're just having vacation here."
Which is a joke, said in a teasing tone, as he wanders in to plop on the edge of her mattress.

Oh, but he's said words.
"If I were having a vacation, it wouldn't be here." She points out, then with a jolt, sits up and slaps her palm on her leg. "--Iorveth!" Yes, that was his name. She's fairly sure. Probably. Still, she looks proud at managing to produce a likely name.

Which is a joke, he’s heard by now from eavesdropping and the like what happened with her. Digging in his pocket, he pulls something free, before handing it over to her.
“Here. Found someone in Darktown peddling these. Thought it might lift your spirits.” What he gives her is a small talisman, hand crafted to venerate Sylaise.

"It's beautiful. Maybe it'll bring me healing. That's what Sylaise is--the healer." She glances up at Iorveth, a wry smile on her face. "It's...hard. I'm not sick, or plagued, or anything, but--I can't think. The words don't stay together in my head, so I either lose them, or I say them, and hope they're the right ones." And it takes so much effort, like she's trying to translate the words from a different language, except there's no other language that she can fall back on.

"Yes, the Hearthkeeper as well, as far as I've read. What little there is to read in this city. A pity, that." He'd like to know much more about the Dalish and their culture, but it isn't as if he minds learning it from friends like Beleth. It's only sad that the humans here either put so little effort into knowing their neighbors, or actively filter word of them out of their texts.
"Hm. Sounds frustrating, to say the least." Commenting on the condition she's explaining. "Have you tried writing things down? Just notes on what you remember, so you can refer back if you forget."
