At one of the long tables, there are a large number of maps spread out, showing the coasts and cities. Scattered elsewhere around it are pieces of paper, logs, supply lists and a partial roll of ships that the Inquisition has access to. Stretched over the largest map is a thin sheet of vellum which has various notes, possible routes and comments sketched on it.
"Ok...I really wish we had something faster than wind. I've been talking with Thor, they need supplies. What do you think we need to get? He wasn't able to get me a list, but he's got other things on his mind at this time. We've got some time, but better to have em here, ready to go than have to get everything together quickly."

"And we should make sure we have ways of preserving both," he adds. "We'll likely need to prepare a good amount of elf root, and whatever food can last on difficult journeys."
"Probably should have blankets as well," he adds.

Jang keeps looking at the map as she talks, as if she stares at it for long enough a solution will present itself. An unknown number of wounded, an unknown number of civilians. A lot of unknowns, and that always results in problems. "We should get some whiskey as well. Good for disinfecting, dulling pain and bolstering sprits. Blankets are a good idea too..." She sighs and looks up at Newt pacing. "There is a lot of unknowns here...Thor sounded like he was secure for now, but god knows how long that'll last."

"Newt is right: our priority should be getting our people out safely and taking care of them. We don't know if we have the numbers to even deal with these people and Corypheus and his dragon." It was a lot of unknowns, honestly.
no subject
"I somehow doubt we actually have those numbers, especially after this recent attack," he remarks. It needs to be said; he would prefer to think otherwise, but Newt has always been pragmatic; not one to hide behind frivolous lies in order to avoid hard truths. Well. Mostly.
"So. Items for food, healing, aid, shelter," he lists off, nodding as he continues to pace. "We should also send along extra weapons and armor, just in case. Extra clothing. I don't know what the climate is like, either in Minrathous or the escape routes, but we should prepare for anything."
no subject
"We also need to keep in mind we're gonna be carrying everything ourselves. We can't exactly sneak a cart loaded with supplies into the catacombs. I don't know any...food making spells, Newt, do you have anything that could help with transportation? Or you, Kylo, are you a mage? I never really asked, sorry."
Jang sighs and looks over the list, adding up weights and encumbrance in her mind. "We're not gonna be fighting here, we need to keep that in mind, this is gonna be in and out, zero enemy contact as the goal." She looks up with a slight grin. "'Course, whenever has a plan gone like we wanted it to anyway?"
no subject
"Runes might be a good idea." He remembered being given one to combat the cold when he'd first arrived but hadn't bothered with them since. "I can speak to Rey and see what supplies the Gallows has to offer. She would have a better idea of inventory and what we can carry."
"And no, I am not a mage. I don't do magic." Well he did a sort of magic, but it certainly wasn't anything like he had seen Newt capable of doing during their short stint in the Sunless Lands. The Force was a bit different from all of that.

There will come a time, Newt knows, in which there will be a strategy meeting, for this Corypheus and his pet dragon, along with his Venatori, who especially make him uneasy, given how much they remind him of Grindlewald's own followers. But that is not for today. Small mercies, at least.
"Runes would probably be an excellent idea," he nods. "I believe they have ones for defense and protection, yes?"
"I think it's safe to say that, no matter what we plan for, we should expect for...surprises," Newt says, a wry quirk to his mouth. "But that reminds me. We should make sure we have lyrium potions for those who might need it."
no subject
She sits back in her chair and stretches her arms over her head. "Ooh, yah, good call Newt, those potions may be very vital. Runes would also be very useful as well Kylo. I'm just hoping that everyone in the catacombs are able to walk, having to carry someone out means that two or more people can't fight and are gonna be moving a lot slower."
She laughs and looks down at the maps again. "Course, I've no idea how we're gonna get TO the catacombs. Not like we can knock on the front door..."
no subject
"If they can't walk they're a liability. There'd be no point if they just slow the entire group down." As soon as he says it, he fully expects an argument, which is why he just shakes his head and shrugs. "At least in my experience. If you want to help stragglers that's up to the group, I assume."
no subject
Newt blinks at that.
"Just because they'll slow the group down doesn't mean they deserve to be left behind," he says. "That rather defeats the point of a rescue mission, doesn't it?"
He has to hope the rescue groups as a whole have a more sympathetic approach than Kylo, at least.

Jang pauses and looks up at Kylo, an odd expression on her face. "We...we're gonna be saving everyone. No man left behind in this, otherwise...well, what's the point?" She wasn't expecting this response from Kylo...hopefully that won't cause any problems, it sounds like there's a lot of civilians in the catacombs, and a few injured. Not agreeing on what to do with wounded can cause big problems in the heat of the moment.
no subject
"Sacrifice the few for the good of the many, and all that. If we can treat injured and keep moving at the same time it won't be a problem." He lapses into a stony silence after that, realizing keenly his views have put him in a negative light. "I'm not saying don't save people."
no subject
Newt, who really isn't overly fond of people (or so he's always telling himself), finds himself especially impassioned on this point.
And then Kylo says that. "Sacrifice the few for the good of the many," and all Newt hears, in his mind, is "For the greater good." He visibly tenses, the expression on his face turning sour. He rubs a hand across his face, a calming mechanism so he doesn't actually start a shouting match. This isn't productive to the task at hand, and yet, from his own experiences, Newt cannot let this go.
"I know someone back home who thinks like that," he says, quietly but firmly. "He was trying to start a war for the 'good of the many.' He's sacrificed a good amount of people for the cause as is."
no subject
"We're all on the same page here, save as many people as possible, I think we can all agree on that, right?" She's privately a bit glad that Newt is gonna be going on a diffrent path than Kylo. Rescue doesn't need that kinda strife.

At Jang's words he comes back to himself and he looks in her direction, fists clenched at his sides. He was bubbling with anger already after Newt's words.
"This isn't your home. We still have decisions to make that affect all of us. We will save as many as possible, but there's no need to get everyone killed or captured trying." He shoots a glare at Newt again before backing off.
My apologies that this is so late!
"No, it isn't my home," Newt agrees, pinching the bridge of his nose. If he'd wound up here before his adventures in New York, he would have likely punched Kylo in the face by now. As it is, he has some self-restraint, if only because he knows that the last thing they need is for all of them to add to the various tensions in the air.
"Jang is right. We need to focus on helping where and when we can. What else should we bring with us?"
