[ this woman talks. a lot. as for other woman and pain tolerance, the woman he knows as any import are Eleanor, Anne and Max. None of them are any measure short on pain tolerance, or, you know, any tolerance, for anything. maybe Max.

But, as she rambles on, and on, and on, Vane's silently wrapping the bandage, expression a blank, neutral slate, and one might guess he's not listening to her at all. he is, it's just that none of those options seem like a very good idea for exactly how much walking will be done. ]

It's a long walk. [ they're going through the Brecilian forest, through a few villages, and then to the coast. It's a lot more than she should be doing on an injured ankle, stick, arm to lean on or no. it's too much activity to put on a wound if they don't want her in agony all the next day as well. ] Tell the healers. See if they can find you a horse.

[ or, worst comes to worst, they can make some kind of sled to drag her along in, probably. finishing up the wrap, he tucks the last piece into the rest of the wrap, tugging it through a couple times to make sure it stays. ] Too tight?

No, perfectly fine.

[Talking seems to have bolstered her spirits, or at least provided a very pleasant distraction from the pain. The wrapping is probably doing some good as well of course, but let no one dismiss the healing properties of speaking one's mind.]

That's a good idea though. About the horse. I'll talk to someone and see if it can be arranged. I'm a great fan of horses, actually. Though it's been some time since I'd ridden and-- oh. [She's being rude.] Thank you. This is all very gentlemanly of you and here you are at my aid and I haven't even told you my name. Forgive me, sir. My mother would be horrified.

[She offers her hand down to him then, perfectly frank about it even if he is rather dirty and shifty looking. Ah well. The campfire light does lend a certain appeal to the whole arrangement.]

Miss Poppell. I'm very much in your debt.

['gentlemanly' she says, and vane can't help the snorted laugh that kicks out of him. welp, first time for everything, isn't there? thank the maker flint and silver aren't close enough to overhear that. or to watch him wrapping some noblewoman's ankle up (she seems like a noblewoman, anyway, who else gets this flustered about introductions?)

the hand she offers, he takes and shakes, because he has not kissed anyone's hand in greeting ever. hopefully that's not what was expected here. ]

Charles Vane. You're not. [ in debt to him, and how would she pay it anyway? ] I'm a shit medic. Have one of the healers look at it once they're not busy.

[All the better. Were he to kiss her hand, she'd have to deal with having her knuckles scoured on his beard. A handshake is vastly preferable, thank you very much.]

Well, I appreciate the sentiment regardless. You could have very easily done nothing at all, Mr Vane. It was very kind of you to intercede.
