how do you solve a problem like delphine | closed

WHO: Max, Kostos, Silver, and Yseult
WHAT: Some Inquisition agents are sent to meet with a Chantry sister contact who claims to have info about a Clorentine supporter bribing a Grand Cleric
WHEN: Now-ish
WHERE: the Chantry in Val Chevin
NOTES: OOC info here

The Chantry at Val Chevin is a large Exalted Age complex best known for its vaulting arches and columned cloisters, all built in pale stone rather than the pristine white marble of Val Royeaux. Its main gardens are of the restrained, symmetrical sort, no flowers or fountains to be found, all carefully-manicured hedges that come up to knee-height at most, so that those who walk the pebbled pathways between are never out of sight of the chapel--or of each other. It makes it difficult for the party of 'visiting clerics' to carry on a conversation among themselves without being noticed, but they are doing their best.

Overhead, the sky is grey and not getting any lighter, but so far the threatened rain has not arrived. A few others are making sedate circuits of the grounds along with them, nearest among them a pair of young Sisters up ahead, and a dour, pinch-faced lay brother behind.

Max -- aiming for sedate, landing a little closer benevolent overlord -- masks a peevish tightening of the mouth with an equally tight smile.

"It is no small-minded scheme, gathering us here for this. Does Adeline seem the sort to be careless with the most important detail?"

Kostos contributes a puff of air, pure skepticism at the idea of good luck, through his nose. He couldn't manage to look serene if his life depended on it, but he's managed to arrange his face in a way that suggests he's vaguely troubled by some theological inconsistency, and moving his mouth might shatter the illusion.

Even scrubbed clean, fitted with a metal prosthetic and cane, John isn't exactly inconspicuous. His eyes cut sideways to Kostos, then back to Yseult before shaking his head.

"Is that really worth it?" John murmurs, which may sound dismissive but it's an honest question. Where is the benefit in saving Sister's Delphine's reputation?
