[CLOSED] Barbie Horse Adventures

WHO: Bastien, Hugo, Jenny Lou, Lucien, Marcoulf
WHAT: Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch set out to buy back Lucien’s horse
WHEN: wherever it fits wrt mod plot
WHERE: Orlais
NOTES: [horse nickers]

How convenient that Riftwatch should be operating in Orlais at the same time that Lucien receives word about his father's horse. Since being declared dead, Lucien's assets have been mostly redistributed among family, with the bulk of it going to his cousin, who then sold it to pay down his own gambling debts. Among those assets was Pastille, Lucien's father's prized mare.

The information Lucien has received points to the modest Pelley estate in Montfort, south of Ghislain, as the destination of their quarry. It is a long ride, and to make it truly worthwhile Lucien has volunteered to petition for supplies to aid in rebuilding efforts.

The aim is to see Pastille returned to Lucien, whether that means convincing Lionel Pelley to relinquish her, or buying her back for far more than she's worth. (Of course Lucien would never admit to Pastille being anything but priceless, but we're not made of coin.)

The whistling, he had thought, might almost be mistaken as pleasant if you had no pressing reason to think otherwise. Near the back off their little caravan, with the sun hot overhead and the whispering shift of the summer breeze, he might have turned his head toward some distant horizon and been pleasantly reminded of long walks similar to this one and a different person's whistle.

Ser Lyon du Lyon opening his mouth to speak rather spoils the effect.

Marcoulf's attention shears back in to this moment, narrowing to a point.

"There is a story about a certain Chevalier acquiring one of the Black Fox's rings, is there not?"

"Ser Clementis?" Hugo asks from somewhere alongside, "I don't recall that story, but I'm sure the Fox might have lent them to his closest companions. I did hear a tale a few years ago about some soldier at court who had one, but I don't recall him being a chevalier."
