Edgard starts a little at the stylus landing in his lap. He turns from the window to look at Mhavos.

"Is this a gift or are you trying to injure me further?"

If it's a joke, it's pretty halfhearted.

Is it a joke, is it real? It doesn't matter. Mhavos, foggy headed and over serious, disregards it.

Chin nodding into his chest, he tries to stay upright. "I need your help."

[muckspout]

Edgard watches Mhavos wobble a little and takes a moment to sit up, wincing.

"Of course, how can I help?" Mhavos' eyes seem unfocused. "Are you alright?"

[murderbaby]

Still intensely focused as he slowly folds in on himself, Mhavos whispers, "I need Malificus Malificarum from the library..."

scream!!!!

"Malificus..what?" Edgard responds back in a whisper. "A book?" He looks at the pile next to Mhavos' bed. "It's not one of those?"

[murderbaby]

Mhavos' head is now entirely slumped forward, and he speaks into his ribcage. "Malificus... Malificarum... Magic section..."

[muckspout]

"I can try to see if I can get someone to find it."

Edgard puts a hand on Mhavos' shoulder.

"Steady there. Or maybe I can go get it. I can walk fine, at least, they just won't let me leave." He mouths the last few words so he's not heard by his captors.

[murderbaby]

Mhavos slowly slides backward into his bead, head resting on a battered copy of Historiae Arcanum. "It's... a secret, mon amie."

Edgard nods and scrunches his face in worry.

"Then I'll go get it. I won't tell anyone. Where in the library is it?"

He can sneak out. It can't be that hard.

[murderbaby]

"Arcane section. High shelf. Red leather spine... I'll cover for you..." He says, while clearly falling asleep.

It is surprisingly easy to slip out when no one is looking. Perhaps no one was watching him that closely after all. In any case, it is dark when Edgard gently shakes Mhavos awake.

"I got the book for you. Sorry to wake you, but I didn't know if you needed to hide it?"

He feels really bad about waking him up.

Mhavos, gently drowning in painkillers, nods slowly and begins to slip the (huge) tome under his blanket. He switches natively to Orlesian. "Yes, yes... thank you, my friend."

Edgard switches with him. He's extremely curious and since Mhavos is already awake...

"You're welcome. Why does a book need to be so secret?"

Doesn't someone who work in the library have free reign over the books there?
